Our Story
All my life i have had difficult, troubled and reactive dogs. My first dog lost her eye in a traffic incident and was prone to having fits, another dog was attacked as a puppy twice by off lead dogs and my current dog suffers from fear aggression after being locked away missing his vital socialisation with other dogs. I have had dogs who fear to go outside and dogs who want to bite others. Over my time as a dog walker and trainer, i have seen it all. I have lived it. My dogs have all taught me valuable lessons in dog behaviour, techniques in dealing with different issues and most importantly how to make life better for both you and your dog.
I created Canine Company for one purpose: to enrich the lives of animals (and their humans). It can be hard to explain the many different levels in which we help your dog whilst out on a walk. But here is a story about one of our customers to demonstrate just one of those ways:
Bonny was a rescue dog, permanently on lead because ‘she could not be trusted’. although she was a small dog, she was fearful and would bite passing walkers, cyclists, joggers - anything that threatened her. She also was not a fan of other dogs. Her owners loved her to pieces but walking her was difficult, she would pull and bark at everything and it generally was not a pleasant experience. But her owners loved her so much that they ‘put up’ with it, accepted that nothing could change and she would always act this way. Until they found us. Due to work commitments, they had to find a reputable dog walker and came across Canine Company. After walking with us, Bonny’s owners found a change in Bonny, she seemed more tolerant of the world around her and listened more. They knew that Bonny was happy walking with us because she was so excited when we picked her up but they were not expecting the change in her. Bonny won our hearts and we worked really hard with her, improving her recall so she could walk off lead, carefully introducing her to other dogs in a stress-free way and giving her the attention and training she needed to be happy. Her owners frequently made comments that her outlook had changed and she was much more enjoyable to walk as a result. We had done something amazing, we had changed Bonny’s life and her owners life in the process.
This is our ethos, this is what we are about. Improving the lives of dogs and their humans. It may just be that you need an extra few hours in the day, we can take your dog whilst you are working or busy. It may be that your dog needs more socialisation and to run in a group will tire him more than walking on lead around the streets. If you need a little help with training or questions about your dog - whatever your dog walking needs - we are here if you need us and very happy to help.
