π All racehorses must follow a certified vaccination programme to meet the Rules of Racing.
Hereβs how the flu vaccination schedule works:
V1 β Primary dose
V2 β 21 to 60 days after V1
V3 β 120 to 180 days after V2
Boosters β every six months (maximum interval)
Along with their flu vaccinations, horses also receive tetanus protection. Keeping vaccinations up to date helps protect against serious diseases such as Equine Influenza and Tetanus.
At our yard, we also vaccinate for EHV 1,4 (Equine Herpesvirus), as this is required for horses racing in France.
The primary EHV course mirrors the flu schedule, and horses must have six clear days after vaccination before they are permitted to run.
Vaccination day is a key part of our routine to keep every horse safe, healthy and ready for the season ahead. π©Ίππ
