Hey everyone,

Just a quick reminder Megan will be away her hen holiday 15th-19th of June therefore all her clients will be off that week. I will revert back to my old runs before Erin passed her test and I will be getting the bellfield/shortlees side of town.

If anyone’s confused who gets their dog just drop us a message!

Also if you’re unsure of our holidays the remainder of the year, check our pinned post but we will put a reminder out a couple weeks before the dates anyway!

Thanks again💙

A huge thank you to everyone for your trust, understanding, and flexibility this week while we adapted our services due to the heat. With temperatures being so high, we could only safely run early morning walks, and we know that meant some dogs missed out on their usual spaces. We also know that some of you very kindly gave up your spaces to allow others who needed them, and we really appreciate that support.

We’d also like to thank everyone for their patience today while Megan shadowed Erin on her route. We know some collection and drop-off times may have been a little different than usual, but this is all part of helping Erin build her confidence and experience on the road.

The more time we spend supporting Erin through this process now, the quicker she’ll be ready to run independently. Once all three of us are out on the road, it will give us much more flexibility, help things run even smoother, and allow timings to settle back into a normal routine.

Thank you all for bearing with us during these adjustments. We really do have the best clients and dogs! 🐾❤️

Well… i done it 🏅

Today I completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 4 hours 50 minutes. Honestly so proud of how far I’ve came, both physically and mentally, and the amount of money raised for such an important cause 💙

The heat absolutely done me in 🤣 after around 30km the cramp kicked in badly from losing so much salt, but we dug in and got over that finish line in the end.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated, supported my training, sent messages before the race and kept me going along the way. It genuinely means a lot.

I’ll leave the JustGiving page open for another week or so incase anyone was waiting on payday 👀🤣

Now time for bed before an early start tomorrow… massive thanks to the heatwave as well for giving me an extra 2 hours of admin on the drive home 😭🤣

Love you guys ❤️

☀️ WARM WEATHER UPDATE ☀️

With temperatures set to remain high throughout this week, we will once again be putting the dogs’ safety first and making some temporary changes to services Monday–Thursday.

🐾 No Triple Walk service will run Monday–Thursday this week.

🐾 Instead, we will be running early morning walks only, with the aim of having all dogs home around lunchtime before the hottest part of the day.

For those currently on afternoon walks with either Ben or Megan, if you would like to try and move onto an early morning walk for the week then please drop us a message.

Spaces will be limited and these will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

Unfortunately this will not apply to dogs residing in Galston/Newmilns. Due to the distance and travel time involved, we wouldn’t feel it would be safe or fair on the dogs in the warmer temperatures, so sadly walks for those areas Monday–Thursday won’t be available. Really sorry about this guys ❤️

For anyone currently booked in for Triple Walk services Monday–Thursday, can you please let us know ASAP if:

• You would like to swap to a normal walk instead
OR
• You would prefer to relinquish your space for someone else who may need it

Friday at the moment is expected to run as normal. If anyone wishes to move bookings across to Friday then let us know, however we will prioritise sorting Monday–Thursday arrangements first before looking at Friday requests.

As always, these decisions are never taken lightly and are purely made with the dogs’ safety and wellbeing in mind 🐶☀️

Thanks everyone for your understanding ❤️

☀️ Warm Weather Policy Reminder ☀️

Next week is currently looking to be a warm one, with temperatures sitting around the 20° mark most of the week and Wednesday currently forecast to reach around 27° later in the day.

At the moment, the most likely situation is that we will operate morning walks only where possible to avoid the hottest parts of the day. As always though, the forecast can still change quite a bit over the weekend, so nothing is fully confirmed just yet.

We will make a final decision before the week starts and give everyone as much notice as possible regarding any changes to services, pick-up times or arrangements, so please keep an eye on the page and your messages over the weekend for any updates.

As always, any decisions made are purely in the interest of the dogs’ safety and wellbeing 🐾☀️

This Sunday I’ll be taking on the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of Alzheimer Scotland 💙🏃‍♂️

I just wanted to make one final appeal for sponsorship before race day and also say a massive thank you to everyone who has already donated already. I’ve genuinely been blown away by the support, kind messages and generosity shown so far.

A lot of you have followed my journey over the last couple of years and know how big of a challenge this is for me personally. Going from struggling with my weight and barely running at all to now attempting my first ever marathon is something I honestly never thought I’d do.

Every single donation, no matter the amount, is going towards an incredible cause that means a lot to so many families. Even the smallest contribution really does make a difference and is hugely appreciated.

Thank you all again for the support from myself, Megan and everyone at Nature Tails 💙

Now it’s time to somehow survive 26.2 miles on Sunday 😅

This message is for clients who stay in bellfield, riccarton, shortlees and caprington

A massive congratulations to Erin on officially passing her driving test today🥳🚐

A lot of you will already know Erin well, although a lot of her work has probably gone a bit unnoticed over the years. Erin has been with us since the very beginning of Nature Tails and has honestly been the best second pair of hands we could’ve asked for. Whether that’s helping on walks, being co-pilot in the van, carrying out home stays when boarding has been full or just helping keep the madness under control🤣

Truthfully… I’m not sure how I’m going to cope without her beside me every day☹️🤣

This is a really exciting step for us as a business and for Erin personally. Over time Erin will be driving her own van and building up her own clientele, although for the first couple of weeks she will still be shadowed by either myself or Megan while she gets fully comfortable with her van, routes and the day-to-day structure of everything. Safety and confidence come first and we want to make sure Erin feels 100% ready before being fully out herself.

The overall structure of Nature Tails will remain the same, although there may be some small adjustments during this transition period. The main thing some of you may notice is slight changes to collection/drop off times or who is collecting your dog on certain days while we work through routes and timings. We’d really appreciate everyone’s patience while we navigate this stage as it’ll massively benefit us long term having a third driver and will allow us to continue growing while still keeping standards where we want them to be.

For anyone wondering about areas, Erin lives in Bellfield so she’ll gradually be taking over Bellfield, Caprington, Shortlees and Riccarton areas. Erin will be in a slightly smaller van which means these areas will now likely be split into two walks per day rather than one large morning collection. This allows her to safely and comfortably manage the dogs herself while still making sure every dog gets the same level of care and fun they always have.

The current rough plan is:
🐾 First walk collections around 8:30/9am
🐾 Second walk collections around 11:30am

These are only estimates just now and will probably change slightly once Erin settles into a good routine and figures out timings properly. We’ll also be speaking to everyone individually as there may be some people who actually prefer a slightly later collection time than they currently have. Ultimately we just need to find the right balance to make the two walks work properly for everyone.

A little bit about Erin for anyone newer to Nature Tails…

The dogs always come first with Erin. Their safety, happiness and making sure they have the best day possible has always been her biggest priority. She’s hardworking, caring and genuinely passionate about dogs and their wellbeing. Erin can sometimes be a little socially awkward so she might not always stop for a long chat at collections and drop offs🤣 but please don’t ever take that the wrong way. Her focus will always be on safely collecting the dogs and carrying out the services properly.

A lot of you will already know just how loved Erin is by the dogs and honestly I don’t think we could trust anyone more to take this next step with us❤️

This does also mean that in time Ben will no longer be collecting dogs from these areas☹️ but this will allow me to focus my time on growing other areas of the business and finally getting round to our waitlist so more people and pups can enjoy the services you all currently get.

Erin will also now be logged into our business accounts as an admin so you will be able to contact her directly and if you receive replies from Erin directly over the coming weeks don’t panic🤣

I know this has been a VERY long post so thank you to anyone who’s made it this far🤣

Just to reassure everyone ,this won’t all suddenly happen tomorrow as Erin has literally only passed today🥳 The plan is hopefully to begin shadowing before the end of the month and gradually transition into Erin being out herself, but of course this all depends on how comfortable and confident she feels.

We’re all really excited for this next chapter for Nature Tails and we know the dogs are going to absolutely love having Auntie Erin behind the wheel 🤣🐶

If there’s any questions please message us and don’t comment them as the comments may get missed🙈 congratulation comments are welcome!🫶🏼

We are back to work on Monday the 18th after a lovely week off for Megan’s birthday 🎉

It’s been nice to properly switch off for a few days, spend time with family and friends, enjoy time with our own two dogs Ralph & Lola and finally get caught up on all the things you just never have time for during a busy working week 🤣

We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for allowing us the time off and for being so patient while we recharge the batteries a bit ❤️

If you are an ad hoc booking and haven’t already messaged us regarding days for next week or need to adjust anything, please drop us a message as soon as possible.

Any messages we haven’t gotten round to while we’ve been away will all be replied to today or tomorrow. Thank you again for your patience while we catch back up with everything.

We honestly can’t wait to see all the pups again on Monday and get back out with the gang 🐾
