Nature Tails – Boarding Diary Opening for 2026 🐾

As we approach October, we’ll be opening our diary for 2026 home boarding bookings. This is just a little heads-up to get everyone thinking ahead and planning holidays.

How bookings will work
• Spaces will be first come, first served once the diary opens in October ✅
• Regular Nature Tails clients will be prioritised before any new or non-clients

Dates we can’t guarantee just yet
• We’ll be away for our hen and stag do’s (likely in June & September)
• And of course, our wedding at the end of October 2026 🎉

These dates will be confirmed before the diary officially opens in October, but please keep them in mind when planning.

A little reminder
Spaces are always limited to make sure boarding stays calm, safe, and personal for the dogs in our care. If you’re planning your 2026 holidays, make sure to have your dates ready for October when booking officially opens.

If you already know some of your dates then please feel free to send them over and we will save them for when we open up to make the process seamless and secure your space!

Thank you as always for your support and trust in us — we can’t wait to welcome lots of happy paws for another amazing year!🐶💙

Now a message to all those on my afternoon run -

With the traffic with parents this morning and roadworks popping up all over Kilmarnock town I am majorly behind today! Hoping to have everyone collected within the usual time limit of 1pm but if I’m later I can only apologise. Been absolute mayhem all morning😭

To bellfield clients -

Sorry guys it’s Ben , I completed underestimated how busy it would be this morning with the schools going back. Parents are out in force and the roads have been crazy😅

I am on my way and will be there very soon so if I haven’t gotten your pup yet I apologise but will be there soon!

Hey everyone ,

We just want to give everyone a little insight into why we take the heat so seriously, here’s a photo of the fan system in the back of the van where the dogs travel. At 11:45am today, with no dogs inside, the temperature was already sitting at 27°C, even with the fan going full blast at 100%.

Now, imagine adding in a van full of tired, panting, warm dogs after their walks… even for a short journey, it wouldn’t be fair or safe for them. That’s why we decided to finish up earlier today.

We started bright and early at 6:45am, and by 11:45am every dog was safely home before the heat really built up. It meant a bit of juggling and shuffling, but it was the right call to make sure the dogs were safe and comfortable.

We honestly can’t thank you enough for always being so understanding when we need to change things around for the weather. A special thank you as well to the clients who sacrificed their spots today so that those who really needed care and had no other options could get out — that kind of thoughtfulness is exactly what makes our Nature Tails family so special.

We know it’s not always easy when plans change last minute, but your support and trust means the world to us and it allows us to always put the dogs first ❤️🐾

Thank you again for being such a brilliant and considerate group of clients. We’re really lucky to have you all! 🐶✨

🌿🦎 A Little Something Different From Nature Tails… 🦎🌿

This isn’t our usual type of post, but we thought we’d share something exciting with you all. As some of you know, alongside our doggy adventures, we also keep reptiles at home — and with a successful breeding this year, we now have a few baby crested geckos ready to find suitable homes.

For anyone (maybe families with kids, or those looking for a first step into reptile keeping), crested geckos can make brilliant pets. They’re fascinating to watch, come in a wide range of colours and patterns, and are one of the easier reptiles to care for.

✨ A little about crested geckos:
• 🦎 They are arboreal (tree-dwellers), so they love climbing and benefit from a tall enclosure.
• 🌡️ They don’t require intense heat or special lighting like some reptiles — room temperature suits them well, though a heat source may be needed in cooler months.
• 🍓 Their diet is mainly made up of specially formulated powdered gecko food mixed with water, which can be supplemented with occasional live insects for enrichment.
• 💤 They’re nocturnal, so most active in the evening when you’ll see their personality shine through.

We know this is a bit different from our usual Nature Tails updates, but with so many lovely animal lovers following our page, we thought it might be the perfect place to reach out.

If you (or someone you know) might be interested in learning more about our baby crested geckos, or in giving one a suitable home, please drop us a message and we can chat more about what’s involved. 🦎

We currently have 2 babies who have had their first shed and are about a month old and 6 eggs awaiting to be hatched which could look slightly different🤩

I’ll attach a photo of what they could look like as adults but I suspect more golden/oranage!

🌞 Warm Weather Plan – Early Morning Walks Only 🌞

With the temperatures set to be too warm on Monday for daycare and afternoon walks, we’ll be switching to the same plan we used on Tuesday this week — early morning walks only.

🐾 we’ll aim to have everyone back home by 11ish before it gets too warm.

If your dog is usually on Ben’s afternoon run and you’d like them moved to the morning, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

For anyone who is home with their dog, we kindly ask you to consider those who have to work and have no other care available — this way we can make sure the dogs who really need to be out get priority.

Thank you for understanding and helping us keep all the dogs safe in the heat ❤️🐶

Can you spot the dog?

Ladies and gentleman I introduce Kai. When it’s home time Kai likes to take herself up the back of the field and adopts full camo mode to try and stay a little longer!🤣🐶

Can you sport her in the photo below?🔎

🌞 A Big Thank You from Us 🌞

We just want to say a massive thank you to all our amazing clients for being so understanding about our cancellations due to the warm weather.

It’s never something we want to do — we love what we do and, if you know me well, you’ll know I hate changing the schedule. But at the end of the day, we always have to do what’s right for the dogs, even if it means making tough calls. 🐾💛

We really appreciate everyone making adjustments to their own plans to accommodate this, and your continued support means the world to us💙

🚨 IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE – TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY 🚨

Unfortunately, due to the rising temperatures, we will be cancelling all daycare and walks on both Tuesday and Wednesday. 🌡️🐾
We know this is short notice, and we’re truly sorry — the heat has crept up over the past 24 hours, and we don’t want to put any dogs at risk. If you have already been booked in for these days, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.

We may manage an early morning walk on Tuesday but will confirm tomorrow but at the moment we are taking the stance it is cancelled and wanted to prepare everyone for the most likely outcome

💧 For anyone who still needs care, we can offer a pop-in service to check in on your dog, refresh water bowls, and let them out for a toilet break without overexerting them in dangerous heat.

⚠️ Why we do this:
Taking dogs out in high temperatures can cause heatstroke, which can be fatal in a matter of minutes. Even short walks can put them at serious risk, and hot pavements can burn their paws. Keeping them safe means keeping them cool indoors during the hottest parts of the day.

Thank you for your understanding — we’d much rather miss a couple of days than put any of our dogs in harm’s way ❤️🐶

🐾 New Face Alert – Meet Charlie! 🐾

We’ve had another new recruit join our daycare crew, and we are loving having him around!

Say hello to Charlie – a handsome, bouncy Boxer whose mum has just landed herself a promotion 🎉 (huge congratulations!). With her schedule getting busier, she wanted to make sure Charlie still got the exercise, company, and stimulation he needs – and that’s where we come in.

Charlie is your typical Boxer – full of energy, always ready to play, and with a cheeky personality that keeps us smiling. 🐶 He already goes out with a dog walker on his other days, so he’s well-versed in pack life and group dynamics, making him a natural fit for our gang.

At Nature Tails Daycare, our aim is to give dogs like Charlie the perfect balance of exercise, play, and rest in a safe and secure environment💙

From chasing balls in a private field, to making best friends for life, daycare is ideal for dogs who:

✅ Need company while their owners are at work
✅ Have bundles of energy to burn
✅ Benefit from regular socialisation with friendly, well-matched dogs
✅ Love a fun, structured routine

Charlie has already made himself at home, and we’re looking forward to plenty more zoomies, play sessions, and happy tail wags with him! 🐕💨

📅 If you think your dog would thrive in daycare like Charlie, get in touch – we’d love to welcome them to the pack.
