Myth: “Arthritis only develops in old age – young dogs are safe from joint problems.”

Fact: Arthritis doesn’t just affect senior dogs. It can develop at any age, even in puppies, due to developmental conditions like hip or elbow dysplasia, past injuries, or genetic predisposition.

That’s why it’s so important to look out for the early signs of discomfort; hesitation on stairs, slowing down on walks, struggling to get up after rest, or avoiding play they once loved.

The earlier arthritis is identified, the sooner supportive measures can be put in place.

A few weeks ago we were sent a sample drying coat from Pastel Pooch Boutique to put through its paces. Drying coats play a really important role in the hydrotherapy process, not only to help dry the patient post session but also to help keep those muscles nice and warm.

When we gave the coat a test run, we were impressed with the quality of the coat, it was super soft, fluffy and of a good thickness. We did query whether these had to be washed prior to putting on the patient to maximise drying potential but they didn't, which is great.

The coat dried the patient really well and quickly! Amazing!!!!! 🤩

We did wash the coat after it was used and it wasn't as soft and fluffy but you can use softener to help and they can be tumble dried to keep its fluffiness, which doesn't seem to impact the drying ability.

They have poppers on the leg straps so you can either use them or not and are easy to get on and off.

Another puppy swim 😍

Stokes has started his hydrotherapy journey initially to gain confidence in water, to learn to swim properly and productively and to also have fun ✨

In time we will take this more seriously but for now it’s all about fun and gaining confidence in water safely!

Last but by no means least, we want to give this sweet boy a huge shout out!

Puck attends fortnightly fitness sessions and alongside his brother Jabba at the UK Flyball Championships managed to run over 11 inches (his own height) which he has never done before and consistently hit 3.8 seconds after being out of Flyball for 10 months!

It just shows that even when taking a break, fitness is key and we couldn’t be prouder of this ninja ginger! ❤️

The Flyball world has been busy!

Kobe the Dutch Shepherd also competed at the Flyball Championships this weekend and we are so proud with how he got on!

After weekly fitness session in the Underwater Treadmill, this beautiful boy managed to hold his technique, sit consistently with his times and after a short break, run all day!

Go big fella, we have no doubt everyone was watching with his loud energy 📣

At the weekend Apollo helped his team win the Silver Cup at the UKFL Championships!! Well done Po. 🏆🥇

Cap has been coming for fitness sessions in preparation for some up and coming Sheepdog competitions. 🐑

At the weekend Cap won the singles at Husbands Bosworth Open Sheepdog Trial. If that wasn't enough, he then went out and won the brace with Lara, (who we also treat) at the Midshires Open at Scalford. Absolutely brilliant, well done guys. Keep going you're doing amazingly! 👏🥇
