Foundation protection work with a young Giant Schnauzer!

Rewarding the behaviour and making protection development engaging is critical especially with young working dogs!

In life, when something is enjoyable and rewarding, there is a far greater probability you will want to repeat that behaviour over and over again — the exact same principle applies to dogs.

Too much pressure too early can suppress confidence, reduce engagement and create conflict within the learning process. We prefer to build confidence first, develop prey and reward drive, encourage movement, environmental confidence and create clarity through positive interaction.

Protection training should be progressive, structured and fun. A dog that loves the work will always give you more long term reliability and intensity than a dog trained through confusion or excessive pressure.

Building mindset first. Pressure later. Foundation matters.
