Your dogs’ safety and wellbeing will always come before anything else. No amount of money is more important to me than keeping them safe, comfortable, and cared for during this heat.

🐾❤️ Can We Normalise Not Criticising Small Businesses for Putting Welfare Before Profit? ❤️🐾
Every time a dog walker cancels a walk because it’s too hot…
Every time a groomer reschedules because the salon is unsafe…
Every time a pet professional says “No” to something that could compromise an animal’s welfare…
There seems to be someone ready to complain.
The reality is that every cancelled walk, postponed groom, or refused booking costs a small business money.
We don’t make those decisions because it’s convenient.
We don’t make them because we don’t want to work.
And we certainly don’t make them because we’re trying to be difficult.
We make them because the animals in our care cannot advocate for themselves.
No dog has ever suffered because they missed a walk.
No dog has ever been harmed because their groom was delayed a few days.
But dogs can and do suffer from heatstroke, stress, injury, exhaustion and other preventable welfare issues when people prioritise profit, convenience or customer expectations over common sense.
Small business owners who work with animals carry a huge responsibility. We see these pets as individuals, not pay cheques.
So if your dog walker, groomer, trainer, sitter or daycare provider makes a decision based on welfare, please remember:
🐾 They are likely losing income by making that choice.
🐾 They are putting your pet’s wellbeing first.
🐾 They are doing exactly what you trust them to do.
I’d much rather lose a day’s earnings than risk a dog’s health.
Welfare before profit. Every single time. ❤️
