🐾 Meet Zulu and Olly Purrs who were in for their six month health checks and vaccinations yesterday in our Tain branch!

They were both very well at home in the practice and Olly Purrs was keen to do a bit of shopping!! 🐾

🌞 Today is going to be a hot one!! 🌞

A wee reminder to take care with dogs in this kind of heat!

🌡 Don't leave dogs in the car!
🚶‍♀️Walk dogs early in the morning or late in the evening
🥎 Avoid strenuous exercise
🐶 Take extra care with brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds such as frenchies, pugs and bulldogs, dense-coated breeds (newfoundlands etc!)
💧Provide plenty fresh drinking water
🪨 Pavements and sand can get very hot and burn paws
🍖 If having a barbecue take extra care to keep skewers and corn on the cobs away (We have removed a few!)
💦 If you suspect heatstroke the advice is to "get them wet, then to a vet" - use cold water to soak them fully as soon as possible and ring for advice

❗️Signs of heatstroke❗️

🔴Excessive panting
🔴Aggitation and restlessness
🔴Very red gums
🔴Drooling
🔴Lethargy, Uncoordination & Drowsiness
🔴Vomiting
🔴Collapse

If in doubt it is safer to keep them inside.

💚 Meet Mr T! 💚

Mr T is a 16 year old tortoise who really enjoys dandelions!!

Mr T was in for a routine beak trim with our vet Ross who discovered Mr T... is actually Mrs T!!!

She was good as gold for her break trim and a massive hit with the team.. well done Mr T!🌟 🐢

So what do our incredible nurses do behind the scenes? They have a multitude of tasks including

🐾 Second vaccinations
🐾 Nail clips
🐾 A**l Glands
🐾 Post op Checks
🐾 In patient care
🐾 Blood tests
🐾 Scale and Polish teeth
🐾 X Rays
🐾 Monitor anesthetics
🐾 Run tests
.and so much more!!

They are the heroes in green who give comfort, care and compassion to our pets and always have plenty of cuddles to spare!!

All they ask for in return is that Reception is fully stocked on snacks!! (They do love a chocolate biscuit!!)
