Do you own a Scottish Terrier? If so, would you like to be involved in a research project which is studying a way to detect tumours quicker in the breed? Whether your dog has been diagnosed with a tumour or not, we would be grateful to anyone wishing to take part.

Scottish Terriers are at increased risk of a type of bladder tumour called Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC) in comparison to other breeds. Our Oncologist, Simon Bate, is the lead veterinary surgeon on a research project which is looking to create a new test using urine from Scottish Terriers to help diagnose cases of TCC earlier.

If you have a Scottie dog, and would be willing to collect a sample of their urine and complete a questionnaire, then please email Dr. Antonia Pritchard: [email protected]

⚠️ Contagious cough (also known as Kennel cough) is widespread, distressing and highly contagious ⚠️

Cases are seen frequently in unvaccinated dogs, caught from anywhere other dogs explore; the park, daycare, training classes, shared water bowls outside shops...

Yearly vaccination throughout life is the best way to protect your dog and reduce the spread. Check with your vet today if your dog’s vaccinations are up to date.

Don’t delay! Book your dog in for their vaccination by visiting our website.

We thought we would share with you a case which is commonly seen in practice. Poor Asha came in this morning as she had a sore mouth and wasn't quite herself. On exam we found the culprit - a stick stuck at the roof of her mouth, jammed between her back teeth. She was a very good girl and let us remove it!

We see this surprisingly quite often. The signs to look for would be drooling, pawing the mouth, licking their lips and sometimes you would notice a smell from the mouth too.

We hope you feel much better Asha! 🐾
