Pretty In Pink 🩷

This is Saffy who is wearing one of our pet body suits after her spay. These suits can be used alongside or instead of the traditional buster collar to prevent any interference with wounds 🩷
Don't worry boys they come in blue too 💙

This gorgeous little rat is Ghost 🤍
Ghost was brought in to have his teeth checked. Rats much like other small furies such as rabbits and guinea pigs have teeth which continually grow throughout the animals life 🦷
For this reason their teeth should be regularly checked and may sometimes require treatment to prevent them causing any injuries to the animals 👻🤍🦷

⭐️MEET THE TEAM FRIDAY (oops! we forgot to post on Monday...🫣🤣) ⭐️

This week we would like to introduce our new vet Phil. We are delighted he has come to work for us and we hope you can all give him a warm welcome when you're in 🥰

👉👉 What is your role within Easter Ross Vets and how long have you been part of our team?

Vet and occasional maker of hot drinks and cake. I joined a couple of months ago, but everyone is so wonderful I feel like I have been part of the team for far longer all ready!

👉 What aspect of your job do you like most?

Getting to know your pets and gaining their trust and recognition.

👉 How would your best friend describe you in 3 words?

I really hope they would say caring, loving and dedicated - but it is hard to choose someone else's words so I can't rule them out saying pedantic, slow and annoying!

👉 Are you a coffee or tea person?

Tea, lots of it and often.

👉 What is your favourite dog or cat breed?

For dogs it would have to be Border Collies after the wonderful ones we have had as a family growing up. For cats a domestic shorthair that is a right mix of all sorts with no in**ed health defects!

👉 What show are you currently binge watching?

Not sure it counts but just finished walking with dinosaurs and next up is finally getting round to the Rings of Power now I have finished reading some of Tolkien's back catalogue!

👉 What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends?

Cat cuddles, board games and walks

👉 What 3 items would you take to a desert island?

My cats, cat food for them and a cask of ale for me!

👉 If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Being able to talk with animals - I think they could teach us a lot!

👉 If you could be an animal for one day, which one would it be and why?

Some sea creature, so I could go and explore a completely different realm.

👉 Tell us about your pets?

I have six wonderful cats who really are our family. Koba and Jiang were handed in to my work at my first job in Keith having been dumped, then through the RSPCA work I did at my practice in Sheffield I got my troublesome ginger lad Bookie, my playful sisters Alina and Mutsu, and Orhan the beautiful Snowshoe who is the noisy demanding one.

👉 Can you play any musical instruments?

Clarinet and saxophone - as if I wasn't loud enough already!

💚 Easter Ross Vets - Home visits for euthanasia 💚

At Easter Ross Vets, we’re more than just a practice - we’re your neighbours, your friends, and the familiar faces who’ve been there through every stage of your pet’s life. From their first tail wags to their golden years, we’ve shared in the joy, the care, and the cuddles. 🐾
When the time comes to say goodbye, we believe that comfort, love, and trust matter more than ever. That’s why our own team, the people you know, are here to support you with home visits for euthanasia. No strangers, no unfamiliar settings. Just the same caring hands and hearts you’ve always relied on.
If you're beginning to think about this difficult decision, please know you’re not alone. We’re here to talk, to listen, and to walk with you every step of the way. Reach out to us when you're ready. We’re here for you. 💚

We were delighted on Tuesday to meet this little pup Maverick 🥰

He came in for his first puppy vaccination for Distemper, Hepatitis (Canine Adenovirus 2), Parvovirus and Leptosporosis.

Did you know though that during the first vaccination appointment it's not just about getting a vaccination. It's the perfect opportunity to do a full head to toe examination of your pup and discuss all your questions.

During an exam some of the things we pay close attention to:

🦷Teeth (looking out carefully for displaced lower canine teeth)
👁Eyes (making sure no entropian)
👂Ears & Skin (checking for mites)
🩸Lymph nodes
🩺Heart exam (looking out for murmurs)
💚Checking for hernias
🤍Checking for both testicles if male
💉Checking for microchip

It's also the perfect opportunity to talk about pet insurance, neutering pros and cons individual to your dog and circumstances, nutrition and feeding, how much to walk your dog, worming and flea/tick treatments and training. The good news is that if we forget something we can also revisit any questions you have at the second vaccination. Our wonderful vet nurses are always on hand to answer any queries too.
