Dunnydeer Veterinary Group

Dunnydeer Veterinary Group Personal care and advice for Farm Animals, Horses and Family Pets in Insch and surrounding areas.

We are a first opinion practice with 5 full time vets who share the on-call rota and 1 part-time vet. All of our vets cover all species, although some do have specific areas of expertise. We also have 3 nurses who provide a first class service for our clients and their pets as well as a nursing assistant. Our dedicated team strive to treat all pets with empathy and cater for their individual needs

. We are well equipped to deal with most cases and we have good support from specialists to whom we can refer complex cases. Our ambulatory farm animal and equine service is well established, we cover approximately 900 square miles of Aberdeenshire, although most of our clients are within 12 miles of our surgery. We run our own out-of-hours 24 hour service and can attend to most emergencies within an hour. We feel preventative medicine is of utmost importance and we like to be pro-active in this area. We have an experienced team who continually endeavour to develop their skills and understand that it is important to keep up to date with emerging diseases and control policies.

Here is lovely Milly receiving her acupuncture treatment with our vet Rachelle.
Milly suffers from back pain and arthritis. Due to other health issues Milly's pain medication had to be altered, and unfortunately she became a bit stiffer, slower and reluctant to go downstairs.
We started a course of acupuncture, and within a week we were already seeing that she is more comfortable and moving more freely. Her mobility has steadily improved over the last 4 weeks.
Milly has really enjoyed her sessions and as you can see she relaxes nicely to let the needles do their magic.
Acupuncture can be used for chronic pain, arthritis, spondylosis, spinal disc disease, muscle and nerve pain as well as rehabilitation post orthopaedic or spinal surgery.
If you think your pet might benefit from adding in acupuncture to their current pain management or you would like to find out more please contact the practice.

🪫 CUSTOMER NOTICE 🪫

Unfortunately, we have no wifi and our phone lines are down which means we have VERY limited access to our computer system and only have one available phone line.

Please bear with us whilst we work through these difficulties as it may mean a delayed response time.

Thank you.

🐑Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to join us for our Castration Demo Day with our friends at Glenythan Vet Group! 🐑

With concerns over animal welfare, changes to rubber ring legislation are on the horizon so it is vital to think about other practical improved welfare methods. Following a discussion about practical on-farm use, we looked at both Clipfitter and Numnuts systems in action on 8-week-old lambs. The demo gave everyone a chance to see how these systems work, observe the effects on the lambs, ask questions and have a go themselves with each system.
If you couldn’t make it but would like more information on castration options give our practice a ring – we’re always happy to help! ☺️

🐄 🐑Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Bluetongue information evening at Insch Golf Club! 🐑🐄

Bluetongue is a viral disease spread by midges, which affects sheep and cattle causing serious health and reproduction problems. With case numbers rising down south it is important to be prepared ahead of the warmer months. Bluetongue is a notifiable disease and must be reported by law.

Firstly, Tim gave an overview of the disease including clinical signs to watch for and details on the vaccination options currently available, followed by a discussion allowing opportunities for questions and to hear other farmer’s experiences.

A big thank you to Claire who came along to explain how to record Bluetongue vaccinations on ScotEID! 💉

And thank you to Insch Golf Club for having us and supplying drinks and cakes. 🍵🎂

If you couldn’t make it but would like more information on the virus or about vaccination options please get in touch. 😃
