Raining Cats & Dogs

Raining Cats & Dogs Illminster based cat sitter and dog walker of 8. Over 46 years as a cat mum and over ten years working with animals professionally. I take that stress away.
(2)

Fully insured and DBS checked. Trained in animal communication & behaviour and enhanced feline/canine first aid. Hi I am Amanda, I have been a proud cat owner for 46 years and animals are my passion. I have worked with animals for 15 years - with rescue centres and through pet sitting and dog walking. I have recently moved to Shepton Mallet and am looking to help pet owners in my locality who want

to leave their furry family member in safe loving hands. I am trained in canine/feline first aid, animal communication and animal behaviour. I have extensive experience with most breeds and have worked in training and rehabilitating even the most nervous animals. I also support rehoming cats and dogs from war zones across the globe (and in the UK). Cats are very territorial creatures and dogs find comfort in the smell of what they know. They will always be happier in their home environment. Animals read energy so tend to sense your stress at leaving them with someone or somewhere you're unsure of. Animal welfare is at the heart of what I do - if your cat is shy or wary of strangers we give them the space they need to feel comfortable, and likewise if your cat loves a cuddle, we are there to offer that too! The service is tailored to what your pet wants when I'm with them in real time. I work to your needs.. either videos and photos every five minutes or I'll leave you alone for the duration of your time away - you're the boss (or rather your furry friend is).

First entering a house on a pet sit.

Firstly, walking up to the house and saying ‘poppy, pip, Ellie, it’s me Amanda’ like a lunatic chatting to myself..

Doorbell ring and comforting chat continues…silence is often worrying… I prefer a bark!

No owner in so I enter - comfort and welcoming talk happens/continues…

Now the ‘hellloooo anyone here’

Then the check of pets in residence… dogs will be front and centre… with cats I check food and litter tray and allow them to just be.. I never force.

With cats I sit in a yogic position and send out vibes - weird little felines will come around me and sniff.

Now it gets weird..who else must I care for in 2026..

Hellllooooo Alexa….

Hey Google…

Yo Gemini…..

Hey, any gadgets that need help? Blinds closing, fridges shouting, bins overheating, washing machines:dishwashers bleeping?

Don’t get me started on Netflix profiles and messing up your algorithms with my odd choices… I’ll just tap out and read.

I’ve trained in animal communication (on a psychic level though I don’t advertise that) but I have to placate the AI and cameras….

I try my best but the surprises are always that… I once had an owners voice burst out into a pre recorded nursery rhyme from a timed feeder dish at midnight.

I was told yesterday to hug a goat if a hot air balloon is overhead. Love that.

My job rocks… it makes the ordinary extraordinary.

I had a lady contact me in a desperate situation.

2 kittens needed a home after a terrible change in circumstance.

I stepped in to help rehome.

Turns out these boys were 11 months old, not neutered or vaccinated.

There was also no drastic situation just that she was busy. That’s ok though as they still needed a home. Rescues and fosters are full but I found a space.

She was in the north but I’ve had experience transporting cats all over with Hoff transport so no issue.

Then it came… ‘How much are you willing to pay me for them?’

This is a familiar tale. Someone adopts kittens. When kittens get to six months their behaviour changes if not neutered - they’ll spray and act up. They also stop being as cute in some peoples eyes. They also realise the costs involved to neuter, flea, vaccinate and worm…

This woman is trying to make money from them…she didn’t ask anything more of me - it was about price not intention or the kittens welfare.

Sadly what often follows a situation like this is abandonment. Then we have two young males out in the wild, likely to get harmed in their search for females. The unwanted kittens they sire will follow.

The cycle continues.

People can be such turds
