We had a drizzly but fun time at today. The 4 dogs enjoyed sniffing, running, playing and socialising together.
We are hoping to book another one soon for small dogs, please watch out for updates on our page.

Building connection through play.

Play spikes positive hormones (like endorphins and dopamine) right after learning. This acts like a “save button” in the dog’s brain, locking the new information into long-term memory.

Our methods are entirely science-backed. We know that when a dog is engaged in play, their brain chemistry changes. Stress drops, focus spikes, and communication becomes effortless.

We usually use the wonderful JL Walks and Pet Sitting for our dogs care when we’re away, but they were fully booked this time (we booked a trip at short notice!) so we used Paws On Sea Home & Pet Services who we now also highly recommend! A lovely, thoughtful service.
Both local, reliable and insured services ❤️🦮
Happy International Dog Day everyone ⭐️

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾🤎

I’ve had the pleasure of a few drop-ins with these gorgeous faces recently and honestly… how lucky am I?! 🥹

Still can’t quite believe I get to call spending my days looking after dogs a ‘job’. Getting to know all their different little personalities, being trusted to care for them and being greeted by these faces is everything to me!

Very grateful that this is what I get to do. 🤎🐾

Happy National Dog Day to all of my lovely four-legged clients past, present & future! 🫶🏼

It’s International Dog Day!! 🦮

International Dog Day is celebrated every year on August 26th. It was founded in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige to celebrate all dogs and encourage rescue adoptions. Major UK welfare organizations like Dogs Trust use the day to highlight animal shelter needs.

Consider donating your spare bedding/ bowls/ blankets or some dog food, or monetary donation to a dog shelter. They desperately need our support ❤️

This lovely lad had his second SCDT 1-2-1 Session this afternoon, to help with his loose lead walking.
Lead pulling is so much more than annoying.
It’s dangerous for both dog and owner, aswell as the public, it’s unsightly, it’s disconnected and it’s causing physical and mental harm.

Each step taken with a dog that’s dragging you, is teaching them that this is how they should be behaving. It’s rehearsing. Dogs don’t enjoy the choking and restriction they’re causing by pulling, but they’re in need of an answer to the stress they’re feeling.
⭐️The answer is training⭐️

Loose lead walking isn’t just a quick fix with treats.
It’s repetitive positioning and movement, it’s consistent rewarding at the correct intervals. It’s learning to disengage and engage. It’s shaping behaviours that we deem appropriate.
The dog won’t know this, until you show them the way.

Training is essentially showing them what we deem appropriate.
The tricky part is recognising what the suitable steps are for each individual dog.
❓Is it first working in the home with lead pressure?
Is it working in public spaces with distractions present?
Is it sitting and waiting for the dog to learn self regulation?
Is it changing to a different lead or harness for clearer communication?
Is it that the dog is struggling with reactivity resulting in lead tension?
Is it learning how to hold the lead and how to breathe when you feel tense?

It could be all or none of these, SCDT is here to lend a hand if you’re struggling. ⭐️🐕⭐️
