βοΈ Heatwave this weekend! βοΈ
We asked our fabulous vets from the The Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, QVSH to tell us their Top 5 Tips to keep your dog well in a heatwaveβοΈ
πΎ If in doubt, donβt go out
Too hot for a walk? Skip it. No dog ever died from missing one walk β but dogs can die from heatstroke.
π Know your dogβs limits
Flat-faced breeds (Pugs, Frenchies) and big fluffy ones (Newfoundlands, St Bernards) struggle more in heat.
Keep them extra cool. βοΈ
π Keep your home cool
Avoid hot spots like conservatories. Let your dog chill in the coolest areas of your home and keep fresh water nearby. π§
π° Know the signs of heatstroke
Panting, confusion, distress? Act fast! Cool them with water fast and call your vet immediately. π
π€ Donβt trust everything online
Seen conflicting advice? Always check with your vet β theyβre the best source of guidance. β
But most of all stay safe and enjoy the bank holiday weekend! π
