Meet the gorgeous Willow, this week’s superstar at Dogwood Referrals! 💖

Willow had a rare condition called Pes Varus, causing her leg to bend inward, something we occasionally see in dachshunds 🐶.

Working with Fusion Implants, we used custom-made guides to plan and perform surgery that straightened her leg with precision.
She’s now healing brilliantly and already back to her cheeky self! 💪💕

🐾✨ Bluey's Big Day – A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Her Spay Surgery! ✨🐾

Today, sweet Bluey came in for her spay procedure, and we thought we’d take a moment to walk you through the process and explain what goes into keeping your furry friends safe and comfortable during surgery. 💙🐱

🔹 Check-In: Bluey arrived bright and early this morning and was greeted by our team with lots of love and reassurance. We completed her admission paperwork, and consent forms with her owner, and explained the schedule of the day!

🔹 Pre-Anesthetic Prep: We performed a full pre-surgical exam and reviewed her health history to ensure she was ready for anaesthesia. She was so good for placement of the IV catheter, which was placed to administer medications prior to and during her surgery.

🔹 The Procedure: Once Bluey was under full anesthesia, our experienced vet performed the spay surgery (also known as an ovariohysterectomy), which involves removing the ovaries and uterus to prevent unwanted pregnancies and reduce future health risks. Our experienced nurses monitored her vital signs throughout the procedure.

🔹 Recovery: After surgery, Bluey was moved to our cozy recovery area, where she was monitored closely as she woke up. She’ll be going home with pain relief medication, clear aftercare instructions, and a stylish little recovery collar to keep her from licking her incision.

🔹 Post-Op Care: We’ll check in over the next few days to see how Bluey’s healing up—and of course, her family is welcome to call us anytime with questions. Most pets bounce back quickly and are back to their usual antics in no time! 🐾

Spaying (and castrating) is one of the most important health decisions you can make for your pet—and we’re here to make the experience as smooth, safe, and stress-free as possible.

Well done, Bluey, for being the bravest girl today💙

NEWEST TEAM MEMBER ALERT

Meet our newest (and fluffiest) team member- Squish

He's already made himself at home in reception (where he definitely needs more training from receptionist Sharon on answering the phones) he's observed a few consults (mostly judging) and taken notes on what can be observed under the microscope.

So far his strengths include:
-Purring at clients
-Supervising snack time
-Sitting exactly where you need to be

Weaknesses:
-Refuses to wear a name badge
-Demands payment in Dreamies
-Has no concept of personal space

But it''s safe to say he's passed his probation period and will be demanding a promotion soon 🐱 🐾

🐾💙 This handsome boy is Bryn! 💙🐾

Bryn recently came in for a heart scan 🫀 after we discovered an abnormality during a consultation 👩‍⚕️👀. To investigate further, he was admitted into our care—and he was such a superstar throughout! 🌟

He was admitted by our Registered Veterinary Nurse, Jess 🩺🐶, who went through consent forms and estimates with his lovely owner. Once settled, Bryn had his vitals checked, was super brave for his cannula placement, blood pressure checks, and blood samples 🧪💉—what a champ! 💪🐾

To help him stay calm during the scan, Bryn was given a little tablet 💊 and had a well-deserved nap in his kennel 💤💤—with plenty of love and cuddles from our team in the meantime! 💕🐾

Then it was time to hit the road! 🚑 Off to Medivet Watford with Student Veterinary Nurse, Abi for his scan.

Upon arrival, the team gave him a warm welcome 🐾😊 and prepared him by clipping a bit of fur under each armpit ✂️🐕 to get the clearest image possible. The scan itself was quick, gentle, and non-invasive 💓💻. A diagnosis was made, and it was time to head back to the branch!

Once home, Bryn’s cannula was removed 🩹, and he celebrated with a delicious bowl of chicken 🐔🍽️—well deserved!

Later, his amazing mum came in for a discharge appointment with Veterinary Surgeon, Shireen 👩‍⚕️, and Bryn went home with a waggy tail and lots of love 💕🐕‍🦺

Well done, Bryn, for being such a brave and brilliant boy! 🐾🎉💙

Everyone, meet Addie! 🐶

Addie popped in to see us as her owners were concerned about a lump that had appeared. After a careful examination, the team suggested Addie have surgery to remove the lump and she is now recovering and doing well.
