It’s been a busy season at the practice with a steady stream of wild visitors — from hedgehogs to bats and young birds needing a helping hand. Some are now on the road to recovery or already released back to the wild.

🌈 Sadly, not all made it — but we ensured their final moments were gentle and pain-free.

We’re proud of the team effort that goes into every patient — from triage and treatment to liaising with local wildlife rescues and making tough but compassionate decisions.

✨ If you spot wildlife that seems in distress, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Every call helps us support our local wildlife as best as we can.

We’ve had a busy few weeks with an influx of wildlife patients — from curious hedgehogs to injured seagulls finding their way to us. 💚

As the summer months bring more encounters with wild animals, here’s how you can help:

✅ When to Intervene:
🔹 It is in immediate danger (on a road, near cats/dogs, stuck in fencing)
🔹The animal appears injured (e.g. limping, bleeding, not flying away).
🔹 It’s a baby animal with no sign of its parent after several hours.
🔹 It’s cold, lethargic, or struggling to breathe.

🚫 When to Observe & Leave Alone:
🔸 Baby birds with feathers hopping on the ground — they’re usually fledglings learning to fly.
🔸 Hedgehogs out at night moving normally — this is typical behaviour.
🔸 Seagulls resting during the day — they often take breaks, especially fledglings.

📞 Not sure what to do? Call us! We’re happy to offer advice before you bring wildlife in.

From answering telephone calls ☎️ to prepping in-patients 🛏️ and monitoring their progress throughout the day 🐶🐱 — our team works hard to keep your pets happy and healthy.

We clean, we care, we consult — and yes, we do have the occasional fur-covered coffee break! ☕🐾

Every day brings something new, but one thing stays the same: your pets are always our priority. ❤️

Walter was brought to us after flying into a tennis court fence and suffering a nasty head injury. She was named after a horse who had also suffered a similar injury - a nod to resilience in the face of trauma. Walter certainly lived up to the name, showing strength throughout her rehabilitation.

Thanks to Laura’s dedicated care and rehabilitation, Walter made a full recovery. She was safely released back into the wild — on the very same street she came from. 💛

Sadly, only around 16% of adult wood pigeons in rehabilitation survive to be released, making Walter’s story even more special. We’re so proud to have been part of her journey back to freedom.

To the families who’ve had to say goodbye —we see you. We remember the paws that walked our halls, the purrs that filled our rooms, and the love that filled our clinic.

Grief isn’t linear, and there’s no ‘right’ way to mourn a friend who gave you so much.

If today is heavy, we hope you can be kind to yourself and if you’d like, share their name or a memory below—we’d love to honor them with you. 💙
