I want to hear about things your dog(s) have done so far this summer that have made you really proud. It can be literally ANTHING that springs to mind.
Training, behaviour, achievements, competitions, health. Anything.

But I want you to put some welly into it.
Tell me how fantastic and wonderful and clever your dog is. PREACH about it.

Do it!!

I'll go first.

I'm really proud of Woodbine and his behaviour on our trip to the Isle of Skye last month. He was so relaxed in the house with our trip-buddies, was friendly with everyone, and was able to chill with all the other dogs. Biney basically didn't put a paw wrong, and we had a really really nice time. We had one busy hike where he was feeling a little overwhelmed but he recovered super well and was back to normal within hours. Honestly couldn't be happier with the dude. I am so proud of him and his choices 🧡

NOW YOU.

I’ll be here next weekend with my usual fayre:Treats, toys, tugs, and the rest! Come support this gorgeous sanctuary 💕

I have had questions in the past about whether Trail Hunt International would confuse a dog that already participates in and enjoys mantrailing.

The short answer is no!

The long answer...

When we introduce Trail Hunt to a new dog, the learning picture is completely different. Whilst the activity is essentially the same (ie the dog will follow a target odour along a pre-determined route), the difference lies in the context.

If you DO already participate in mantrailing I will ask you beforehand to go through your existing mantrailing routine to ensure that we do not duplicate any commands or positions.

If you DON'T participate in mantrailing then you don't need to worry about any of this ;)

Honestly... don't be afraid to jump into this fantastic sport due to fears that it will clash with an activity you already love and enjoy. The skills used in both sports are cross-compatible.

Can a dog compete in both agility AND hoopers? Yes!

Can a dog enjoy both obedience AND rally? Yes!

Can a dog participate in flyball AND frisbee? Yep!

The same can be said of mantrailing and trail hunt. The two sports are sisters, not adversaries. 😊

Fancy giving it a shot?

I thought I'd make a few posts about the one, the only, Trail Hunt International.

I really do love it SO much, and I LOVE seeing dogs perform wonderful instinctual behaviours. Over the next week or two I'm going to go over the benefits of Trail Hunt, and how it could be the ideal activity for you to jump into!

We'll start off strong... Trail Hunt is the ultimate sport for mantrailers that are struggling to organise sessions.

Maybe you have nobody to run for you?

Maybe you have no time and wish you could train before work or on your lunch?

Perhaps you have a dog that doesn't like people?

Are you part of a group of dedicated trailers that just can't organise your schedules?

I get it. People have busy lives and quite often training can fall to the wayside. I know a metric TONNE of people who started mantrailing and then slowly let it go over the years. Why? Because the logistics involved is genuinely frustrating.

I'm telling you this from personal experience as well! I can't bloody count the number of times I cancelled or rearranged sessions because one or more members couldn't make it.

Trail Hunt will genuinely solve those problems for you and allow you to practise your trailing skills with your dog whilst keeping COMPLETELY seperate from mantrailing.

You can lay and run trails with your dog alone OR with others. Yes, you heard that right. You don't need a trail runner.

If you like the sound of that.. why not join our next Foundation course?

NEW DATES AVAILABLE!

Trail Hunt International

I am running two Autumn Foundations Courses! One on weekday evenings and one on weekend mornings.

I know it's a while away but I thought I'd release dates now to give people a chance to schedule it in! I don't like running these in summer due to the unpredictability of the weather. Booking links are below!

September 24th Thursday 6:30pm for 4 weeks

This fantastic scent sport is suitable for any age and any breed. Foundations classes are a lot of fun! You'll meet some amazing fellow dog owners in the process.

DISC DETECTION

Our next session will be held in Bredbury Trading Estate in Stockport! This will focus primarily on urban hides and there will be a wide variety of challenges to tackle on this one! Aluminet shade coats are available for pre-order!
These are fab for managing dogs in the heat this summer. They are not a cooling coat, but they stop the rays from even reaching your dog in the first place. Perfect for walks and dog shows to keep your wee darlings comfortable. These work even better if your dog is wet underneath!
I'm on my hols at the moment but these will be sewn and shipped upon my return mid-July 😎🏞️
Available in orange and purple, more colours may be added to the range next season if demand is there!
As always, free delivery on orders over £50 so why not get your dog an extra lil' surprise while you're there?

I've put together a full video of our Disc Detection day last weekend! All the teams found the golden disc (which was the most "technical" hide in their section) and won their gold rosettes.
Consider me shocked when EVERY SINGLE dog came in under the 3 minute mark in the time trial! Definitely need to add a bigger challenge for all you scallywags next time 😎
The rankings for the time trial on the day;
1st place- Sadie
2nd place- Parker
3rd place- Riker
4th place- Koda
5th place- Ayda
I am beyond proud with all the hard work these teams put in. You have all dedicated so much time and effort towards their scentwork. It makes me so happy to see all the little updates you send me on a weekly basis. I hope everybody went away with some goals to work towards for the next fun day 💛🧡❤️
It's looking liiiiiike the 19th July for the next one! Details to come 🐾
