We now offer CT scans at our Hartlepool site 🙀🤩

CT scans are essential diagnostic tools used to visualize internal structures of the body, helping to detect diseases, injuries, and guide treatment plans.
This machinery allows us to produce high-resolution images that offer more detail then traditional X-rays, allowing for better visualization of soft tissues, organs, and bones.

CT scans are generally non-invasive and painless, making them a preferred choice for many diagnostic evaluations.

The team are delighted that we can now offer CT scans on site, and provide our patients with the highest levels of treatment and care.

Here are some snaps of our team receiving training on this new piece of equipment 📸

Spend the day with Buddy 🐾

Everyone please meet Buddy 👋 - The 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier

Buddy visited our Horden surgery for his annual booster vaccination 💉
During his consultation his owners mentioned how he has been struggling with his mobility lately. Buddy was previously diagnosed with Patella Luxation but seemed to be managing this well on medication, until now.

Dr Elizabeth recommended that Buddy have surgery to fix his condition and allow him better mobility- his owners decided to proceed with this course of intervention.

Fast forward 2 days and Buddy was back in again to have pre-op x-ray imagery taken in preparation of his surgical procedure.

We wanted you to spend the day with Buddy - to understand the time & care that goes into treating each patient we see 💓
From admit to discharge, we strive to make each patient as comfortable and pain-free as possible !

Its fair to say the team loved spending the day with Buddy, and enjoyed plenty of cuddles 💖

🤢TICK'S🤢

Unfortunately its Tick season in the UK 😔

Take a look at this Tick we removed from a patient... Disgusting right?

There are four stages to a Ticks' life-cycle: egg, larva, nymph, and adult.
Larvae, nymphs and adults spend most of the time on the ground protected by leaf litter, leaving this protection to find a meal. They feed only once in each stage, staying attached for a few days, then dropping to the ground to moult into the next stage.

It is important that Ticks' are removed properly as it can lead to health issues if not done correctly.
For more information on Ticks' and how to correctly remove them, please read the below article:

Meet Luna 👋

She is a 1 & 1/2 year old domestic short haired 🐱

She visited our Horden practice 📍 due to cuts and scrapes noticed on her right hind leg by her owner followed by lameness 😿
Upon examination Dr Nicoli decided it would be best to clip & clean Luna's wounds 🪒
Dr Nicoli administered an injection of anti-biotic to try and prevent possible infection and provided some medication 💊 to treat Luna's pain and inflammation.

Luna's owners where instructed to keep her indoors for around 5 days to rest and to clean her wounds daily 🧽 if Luna did not improve her owners where advised to bring her back in to see our vet!

5 days later....
Luna's was improving slightly with her lameness but had taken a fall from the windowsill! Her owners brought her back into our practice for another assessment.

Upon Dr Zoe's examination she decided x-ray imagery was the best option for Luna 🩻
The following day Luna was admitted to our surgery where she had her x-rays preformed under under general anesthetic 🏥 (x-ray included in this post)
Unfortunately the x-rays revealed Luna had a fractured pelvis 🦴

Luna was swiftly referred to a specialist who preformed a procedure to help correct her pelvis fracture.

Luna is now healing nicely at home with her family 💛
