Fireworks season is one night for most people. For dog owners it can be weeks.
Hugo has been afraid of fireworks since he was two, and I haven’t “fixed” it. I find this time of year genuinely hard. But here’s what I’ve refined over ten years with him, and used with my clients’ dogs too: a last daylight walk, then in for the evening, something that settles him (for Hugo, his ball and a dig), no busy places because fear spreads, and a quiet night with one or two guests at most.
If you’re thinking about medication, ring your vet today. Appointments are filling up fast and Bonfire Night is almost here.
