⚠️Contains Gi Stasis ⚠️

From Saturday up until today Blaze has fallen into GS which I assume could only have stemmed from me giving him a tiny piece of Banana from my previous video!
This video has been created to raise awareness of just how delicate a rabbits digestive system really is and how quickly
A bunny can go down hill if action isn’t taken quickly and efficiently.

This was my first ever situation I have ever had with gs and I have learnt I won’t be giving it again luckily we are almost out of the woods but it could have ended very differently if I hadn’t acted quickly and provided round the clock care.

What is Gi Stasis?

Gastrointestinal (GI) stasis is a dangerous medical condition where the normal muscle movements of a rabbit's stomach and intestines slow down or stop completely. This traps food and gas, causing painful bloating, dehydration, and a dangerous shift in gut bacteria.

What can cause it?

Common Causes
Low fiber diet (not eating enough hay)
Stress from loud noises or a new home
Pain from dental problems or infections
Dehydration or lack of water
Lack of exercise
New Food

Signs?

Not eating or drinking
Small or no p**p pellets
Hunched posture or sitting still
Grinding teeth (a sign of pain)
Swollen or loud, gurgling belly

How to prevent
Fresh water Daily
Fresh long stem hay
High fibre pellets
Daily exercise
Fresh Dark leafy greens
Reduce stress
Dental monitoring
