❄️❄️With the very cold weather this week, you’ll likely see gritters out treating the roads and paths.

After taking your dog for a walk, please make sure to wash their paws. The grit spread on the ground can irritate your pet’s paws and may cause burns or sores, especially when mixed with snow or ice.

If your dog ingests the grit or salty residue, it can also lead to vomiting and other illnesses- seek medical advice

To keep your pet safe, wipe their paws after walks and consider using a protective paw balm.

🐶 Kennel Cough

Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection that affects a dog’s trachea (windpipe) and bronchi (airways).
It’s similar to a human cold — uncomfortable but usually mild — though in some dogs it can become more serious.

Common signs to watch for:
💨 A dry, hacking “honking” cough
🤧 Sneezing or nasal discharge
😴 Mild lethargy or loss of appetite

If your dog shows these symptoms, please keep them away from other dogs and contact your vet for advice. Most dogs recover with rest and care, but puppies, seniors, and dogs with other health conditions may need extra attention.

✅ Prevention tips:
Keep vaccinations (especially Bordetella/parainfluenza) up to date
Avoid close contact with coughing dogs
Maintain good ventilation and hygiene in dog areas

Hey everyone — with fireworks going off tonight, please remember our dogs (and other pets) might be really scared. 💥

Here are a few quick tips to help keep them safe:
• Walk them early, before dark 🌇
• Keep them indoors with curtains closed 🎶
• Create a cosy, quiet space with their bed and toys 🛏️
• Make sure doors, gates, and ID tags are secure 🚪
• If you’re setting off fireworks, please give neighbours a heads-up 🙏
