I know it's a wee while away yet but I signed up to raise some money for The National Autistic Society by walking, cycling or swimming 100 miles in October (given my job and for fairness all miles logged will not be any done whilst walking customers dogs, it will be done in addition to my regular daily walks). Any donations no matter the amount would be greatly appreciated for such a good cause. It all goes towards helping autistic people and their families 💜

Two days two different dog friendly cafes 🐾🐶

I had an appointment in Aberdeen on Wednesday so stopped in by Grub Fresh Food for lunch. Then today I had an appointment in Inverurie so stopped for a breakfast roll at The Drive at Haddo

PS. my car may or may not have been bought because its orange even though I had the exact same car in blue before. It's special individual paint would've been rude not to 🤷🏼‍♀️

Happy International Dog Day 🐶🐾

Today is all about celebrating our dogs and all they do for us.

Arlo has some good news regarding his eyes after his recent dog food recall. His left eye is totally unaffected reading 22 and his right eye is borderline sitting at 14. The cut off is 15 so he's back in 2 weeks for a recheck to make sure the right eye is moving in the right direction so hopefully it will improve 🙏

My poor boy 😢
What should've been a nice holiday has turned out with Arlo suffering from an upset stomach due to us having to suddenly change to a different food. We unexpectedly got an email at 11pm on Monday night from Arlo's dog food manufacturer issuing an immediate recall on all food. Why they couldn't have done this earlier in the day to allow time to source alternative food I just don't understand. The recall has come about after a number of dogs have suffered from sudden onset dry eye which in some cases has lead to eye removal and in one case I read about even death. This is truly unacceptable. The ingredient thought to be at the root of this is buckwheat which they added to the food at the start of the year as it was cheaper than the previous ingredient. So essentially they have put profit above dogs health. For a company that would once pride itself on being all about dogs health this was a reckless move in my opinion.
Now in the past 3 to 4 months Arlo has had a number of vet visits due to ear infections, eye problems and what was thought to be some sort of skin infection. I have since been in contact with his vet who have confirmed that all these issues are likely to be attributed to the buckwheat as there is evidence it can affect the entire skin (of which ears are included) not just the eyes.
I emailed the manufacturer within 5 minutes of getting the recall email and have had zero response regarding this when numerous other people have already been refunded for their last order. Surely their priority should lie with those who's dogs have been affected by this but it appears that's not the case.
I now think I will have a fight on my hands to get this sorted. But in the meantime we are away searching for a large tesco as they do stock small boxes of the food he gets in the morning so hopefully if we get some of that it will maybe settle his stomach a bit. Once we are home I have already got some high quality fresh food sorted for Arlo from Emma's Pet Fair along with stuff to settle his stomach so here is hoping that helps my poor pup. Big thanks to Emma for reaching out with a great alternative to help get this sorted.

So pleased with how this boy did at mantrailing yesterday 💙 he's progressed so much this last year and this trail was one of the toughest ones for him yet with added fresh scent as a distraction. The Image shows how well he followed the trail even copying the missing persons little loop they did round some trees. He made all the right decisions at junction points and didn't get tricked with the 2 scent trails that were layed together. It doesn't do justice how good he did. It was mostly all off the path he wasn't just blindly following a path he really had to rely on his nose 🐶🐾

Happy 6th Birthday to the main man himself, Arlo 🎂 🎁

Can't believe he's 6 already where has the time gone.

He's enjoyed his wee party with his wee pal Roxi. Cake, toys, treats and a fancy meal for his supper tonight. What more could a pup want?
