Do you know the signs if your dog is too hot? For dogs, the heat can be a little more inescapable than it can be for humans, however small tweaks can really improve your dogs’ comfort and ensure the situation doesn’t escalate into a medical emergency!

If your dog shows any signs of heat stroke, it’s important to take action:

- Wipe them down with cool (not ice cold) water; the reason for not using ice cold water is because going from one extreme temperature to another can put their body in shock
- Keep them in the coolest spot available, put fans on them and monitor them closely
- Ensure they have access to water and remain hydrated

If your dog isn’t cooling down and is showing any of the below symptoms, it is an emergency and you need to get them to the vets ASAP!

The best way to help your dog is to prevent them from overheating in the first place - a lot of dogs LOVE the sun and can sunbathe in the heat for hours, the problem is when they are forced to over exert themselves in the heat by their owners and can’t remove themselves from the situation. Letting them chill with you in the garden is absolutely fine providing they have the option to sit in the shade or go inside if they wish ♥️
