Frank's Friday - Whilst mum is away.............
Before Mum went on holiday, she decided we absolutely needed “just one more score sheet” in our grand attempt to qualify for some kind of competition..… I never know whether it's regionals, area festivals or some other plan she has, but like the good horse I am, I went along with her, which unfortunately for me meant I had to get in that metal container again, oh sorry, I mean lorry, on the hottest day of the year. 🥵
Mum what were you actually thinking......... can you please consult me on these ridiculous plans of yours........ I am 50% of this partnership, which means I am entitled to an equal say in these situations..........
Sorry, I got carried away then. Now personally, I felt in this ridiculously hot weather, my talents would be better suited to standing quietly in the shade eating grass. But no, apparently mum is in charge, and off we went.
To be fair, I did try very hard despite feeling like a melted horse, 🫠🫠and apparently everyone was very pleased with me and I came away with two first places. So Mum went on holiday happy, which I suppose was the whole point.
With mum away, I’m on “light duties”… which actually means I’ve been having lovely gentle hacks with Lauren instead of proper work. Honestly? I could get used to this life. 😝😝 Wonder if my mum wants more holidays......... any travel consultants on here willing to help a guy out.....
Lots of strolling, lots of sniffing, minimal effort required from me - exactly how I think summer should be spent. Mum - could you just take note please.......
I wouldn't be a true British horse if I didn't moan about the weather - who turned the heating up THIS much and what are you playing at....... it's ridiculously hot. Even the flies look exhausted. 🥵
I’ve been trying very hard to conserve energy by moving as little as possible unless snacks are involved.
Now I don't like to tell tales but Lauren keeps calling me “lazy” on our hacks, but I prefer “heat efficient”, plus I’m wearing a full fur coat. Does she not realise what that feels like? I would also like to point out I noticed Lauren leaning against a fence post every 12 minutes when teaching last night, moaning about the heat. I’m conserving energy so I survive this heatwave, not sure Lauren can say the same, and I think she needs to look in a mirror if she's calling me lazy........ .
Changing the subject...... I'm a bit worried to inform mum about our dramatically increased water consumption this week........that's definitely a job for Rosie. I’m drinking approximately one small lake per day and still feeling personally victimised by the sunshine. 💦 As for my other four legged buddies across the yard, they are frequently standing under a hose cooling off because this heat is not ok for us horses on any level.
Anyway, Mum, I hope you have enjoyed your holiday
I am being extremely well behaved so far apart from when the baby lambs scared me on my hack......... but what happens on a hack stays on a hack so you will never know that story.
For the record, if this warm weather continues when you are home next week, under no circumstances will normal training resume without extreme Frank dissatisfaction - I've missed you, but you have been warned.
Now, where's my holiday gift.......... apparently carrots from Norfolk are scrummy.......
