🐾 STOP SCROLLING — It’s National Dog Day ! 🐾

We know what you're thinking — at Puppy School, every day is dog day! Well today we're encouraging you to celebrate the joy, love, and chaos our four-legged friends bring into our lives. Whether your puppy is just starting their training journey, or is a long-time master of melting hearts with their “puppy dog eyes,” today is the perfect excuse to give them a little extra love.

Here are some suggestions for how to make their day paws-itively perfect:

🐾 1. Bake them something special – Try recipes straight from the doggy bakery world: from pancake pups to puppy-friendly biscuits and cupcakes—ready, set, BARK!

🐾 2. Explore their favourite route – Say yes to woodland wander, city sniff-ventures, or a local puppy picnic on their favourite walk.

🐾 3. Build a dig-box – Hide toys or treats in a homemade “dig box” for mental enrichment (and mess-friendly fun).

🐾 4. Spoil them with a squeaky or tug toy – New toys = instant tail wags. Just the right amount of retail therapy for a playful pup.

🐾 5. Empower their instincts – Let them unleash puppy nose power with a scent hunt or hide ‘n’ sniff game around the house.

Its great to learn to speak dog! Dog body language can tell you so much about what your dog wants and how they are feeling. Understanding this can really help with training and bonding 🐕🗣

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of running a Rally Obedience workshop for fellow dog trainers at the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) Dog Camp. It’s always a joy to share knowledge with such a passionate and like-minded community of professionals.

I joined the APDT back in 2019 because I wanted my clients to feel confident that they’re working with a trainer who’s been assessed to a high professional standard. The APDT’s values really align with mine; promoting only science-based, welfare-focused methods that put dogs' wellbeing first. 🐶
