Barney recently missed visiting a few weeks classes I kept asking everyone if they had seen him. We were all worried something had happened to Barney, however, it was his dad who was injured. Needless to say we are all pleased to see Barney back and his dad got no sympathy 😆

🐾 Guess who came back to visit us at Callendar House today… it was Barney the dog! 🐶💛

Even though Karen, one of our lovely Venue Assistants, wasn’t at the main door, Barney wasn’t taking no for an answer. He tracked her down at the side door – she thought she recognised his bark, and sure enough, there he was at the gate ready to say hello!

Karen was caught off guard without a biscuit in hand, but thankfully Barney’s owner had her covered and made sure he didn’t miss out on his wee treat. 🦴✨

We absolutely love saying hello to all our furry friends who pass by the house. Just a wee reminder – only official guide dogs on duty can come inside, but we’ve now got some lovely benches out the front where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the views with your four-legged pals. 🪑🌿🐕

Pop by and you might just bump into Barney too!

⚠️ Microchip Scam Awareness⚠️

We’ve received reports of a scam that may affect pet owners.

Fraudulent "businesses" falsely claiming to be from “Petchip Network” are sending emails claiming your pet’s microchip is about to expire and urging you to click a link and pay a fee!

🚨 Important Reminder:

Microchips do NOT expire. If you receive such an email:

❌ Do not click any links.
❌ Do not make any payments.
✅ Contact your original microchip provider to verify your details and ensure everything is in order.
✅ If you are unsure who your microchip provider is please contact your veterinary practice who can find this out for you.
✅ It is a pet owners legal obligation to keep their animals microchip details up-to-date! If your personal addresss or contact details change please contact your microchip provider to update this for you.

📞 If you believe you have been a victim of this scam we advise contacting the police or call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

Next step/advanced class

I have had a few clients ask about a refresher/continuation class for dogs who have came to either training classes or 1-2–1 in the past.

This class will be a mix of both general training and the recall classes. We would cover things like how to stop pulling on lead, walking on/off lead next to you, recall, loose lead walking and paying attention with distractions etc. Whilst having fun with our dogs.

These classes would run for 4 weeks, on a Sunday, with a max of 4 dogs per class. These are only available to pups and dogs who have come to one of my previous classes or met for 1-2-1.

At the moment I’m taking details of clients who would be interested, then I can organise a class.

Almost everyone who has come to my classes at 10am or 11am will have met Barney the loveable, famous golden retriever.

Barney has made friends with and helped a lot of pups and dogs over the last few years. He does ask for payment in treats which I’m happy to pay 😆

I always knew he would be famous!

Everyone: Say hello to Barney 😍 – one of Callendar House’s top VIPs (Very Important Pups)! He swings by the front door daily for his dose of cuddles and, of course, to sample the finest snacks our shop has to offer.

We’ve got a pawsome range of pet treats waiting, so next time you’re out on a dog walk, pop your head in – tails will wag 🐶🐾🦴

Congratulations to all of Aprils Simply’s Pawsitive graduates. I’m proud of everyone your pups and dogs were fantastic. Unfortunately Alfie couldn’t make it today but we are all thinking about you.

A lot of us will be planning our summer holidays with our dogs. From June if you’re travelling to Northern Ireland with your dogs you will need to have a pet travel document.

From 4 June 2025, you'll need a Northern Ireland pet travel document to take your dog, cat, ferret or assistance dog from Great Britain into Northern Ireland.

There will be new rules at the port or airport to check your pet’s microchip and paperwork.
