LETS TALK CRATES!

People often think of the crate as somewhere to put the dog if it’s been ‘naughty’. Owners tend to feel guilty using a crate as they feel the dog should have freedom around the house. Too much freedom can actually put unnecessary stress onto your dog. Using a crate is not cruel.

Crate training can have a number of benefits such as
🐾Helping prevent or over come separation issues
🐾Creating a safe comfortable place for your dogs down time: Adult dogs need upto 18 hours of good quality sleep per day. Using a crate can help them fully relax and switch off. Lack of sleep can contribute to behaviour problems such as over reactivity, destructive behaviour and hyperactivity.
🐾Vet trips- if your dog has to stay in at the vets for an extended period having them used to being secured in a crate will remove some of the stress from them in an already stressful situation.
Before expecting your dog to settle in a crate you must make sure their needs have been met both physically and mentally.

Such an interesting read for all the puppy owners out there! 📕 An overweight and under exercised puppy causes more issues!

Keeping your pup well exercised, lean, work on building muscle, good quality sleep and structure /boundaries will make raising your pup so much easier! 🐾
