🐾 Nobody tells you what it’s REALLY like to be a dog walker… 😂

You think you’ll spend your days strolling through flower-filled fields…

Reality looks a bit more like this:

🤢 Carrying bags and bags of poo swinging from your bum bag everywhere you go.

💪 Wrestling something disgusting out of a dog’s mouth before you even discover what it is… and it’s always something gross and sticky.

💩 That heart-sinking moment when you realise the long line has dragged through a fresh poo…

👀 Trying to stop a dog from rolling in fox poo, dead fish, dried frogs, or whatever other disgusting treasure they’ve found.

💦🙈 Getting a surprise shake-off right after they’ve discovered the biggest muddy puddle.

🌷 Constantly picking seed pods out of coats in the summer… then rinsing off muddy paws and drying wet dogs all winter. ❄️

🎾 Losing half your tennis balls to that one Spaniel who completely forgets to bring them back.

🧺 Washing endless towels, coats, blankets and drying muddy kit ready for tomorrow.

📸🤳 Realising 99% of your camera roll is dogs… and you wouldn’t have it any other way!

🚙 Cleaning your car… constantly.

☀️ And during these heatwaves? Setting the alarm for 5am to get everyone walked safely before it gets too hot, then popping back to visit pups for comfort breaks, fresh water and frozen treats.

And somehow… we still turn up every day with a smile because we absolutely love these furry little weirdos. ❤️🐶

Let’s see who gets the rarest birds?

What an amazing variety of birds in the woods today. On my early walk with Dexter I used an app to identify the birds in the trees. I’d love to see what other dog walks and owners find on their walks. The app is called Merlin and it’s so cool. Apparently Chiffchaffs aren’t common birds around us.

Shout out to all the dog walkers this week putting their dogs first. Getting up at the crack of dawn, walking early/late or cancelling all together. Yes we are loosing money but we will not risk heat stroke in our furry friends.

Introducing 5 month old Tulip, the newest member of the Kindness family. She will be receiving two solo walks a week, this will not only provide exercise and stimulation but also socialisation and confidence building.

Anyone hazard a guess at her breed? 🌷🐶

A quick dog safety reminder 🐾

Did you know that in the UK, dogs in public places are legally required to wear a collar with identification attached?

Under current legislation, your dog’s ID tag should include:

✅ Your surname
✅ Your house number (or house name)
✅ Your postcode

📞 Adding a contact telephone number isn’t a legal requirement, but it’s something I strongly recommend. If your dog ever becomes separated from you, it gives someone the quickest way to get in touch.

What you don’t need to include:

❌ Your full street address
❌ Your dog’s name

In fact, I personally advise against putting your dog’s name on their tag. While many people do, it can make it easier for someone with the wrong intentions to gain a lost dog’s trust or attempt to claim ownership.

Of course, all dogs should also be microchipped, but a visible ID tag is often the fastest way for a member of the public to help reunite a dog with their owner.

🐕 For dogs in my care, I add an additional “I’m with my dog walker” tag containing my contact details. This provides an extra layer of security and means I can be contacted immediately should an emergency or unexpected situation arise.

It’s such a small thing, but having the correct information on your dog’s collar could make all the difference if they ever go missing. 💛
