🐈 Apparently dinner was late last night… ⏰🍽️
I was a little later than usual getting to the feeding station yesterday evening, and look who was waiting nearby… Charlie! 👀🐈‍⬛
Did he run away this time? No, he just sat there at a safe distance silently judging me for my completely unacceptable timekeeping. 😾

I think that look says:
“Excuse me, human. You're late!!” 😤

Just as well he is cute 🥰

🐈‍⬛ Mystery Visitor Update - Meet Cosmo! 🐈‍⬛

Remember the beautiful black cat we posted about a few days ago who had started visiting our feeding shelter?

Well… the mystery is solved! 🔎🐾. It turns out our visitor does have an owner and is called Cosmo 🐈‍⬛. Cosmo is quite the little adventurer and likes to disappear off on her travels for a few days at a time. She then wanders over to our feeding shelter to dine whenever she is hungry.

The owner now knows we’re one of Cosmo’s favourite stop offs and where to look when she decides to extend one of her little holidays! We’re really pleased we were able to find Cosmo’s owner and know that our mystery visitor has a loving home to return to 💕

We suspect she may be back! 🤣

🖤🤍 Meet Charlie 🤍🖤

Charlie is the OG (Original Gangster!) of our feeding station and has been visiting us for around two years. This handsome tuxedo boy first appeared with a tipped ear which means he had already been neutered before he found his way to us. Although Charlie enjoys his meals with us almost every day he is still a very shy boy. If our paths ever cross, he's usually off like a shot before we can say hello!

Back in May he worried us by wandering off for 4 days. We spent that 4 days driving around looking for him, being in tears, posting about him being lost and thinking the worst and then he rocked back up as if nothing happened!! He is a very much loved boy and he doesn’t even know that he is. 🥺

❤️ Charlie Likes ❤️

😻 Getting to the feeding shelter first so he can enjoy all his favourite food before anyone else gets there.
😻 Felix Crispies – without question, his favourite treats!
😻 A peaceful breakfast without George shouting at him from the sidelines. 😂
😻 Recruiting new members to his very exclusive VIP Dining Club. 🐈🐈‍⬛

🚫 Charlie Dislikes 🚫

😾 George arriving halfway through breakfast and loudly voicing his opinion about Charlie eating ‘his’ food.
😾 Turning up at the feeding shelter only to find a human already there. Charlie prefers to eat his food via room service!
😾 Anyone questioning whether he's really the boss... because Charlie knows he's in charge! **Looking at you George 🐈👀**

Charlie may be shy around people but he's become a much loved part of Ellon's Feral Cats, and we'll continue making sure he has food, fresh water and shelter for as long as he needs us. ❤️

🐾 UPDATE - she is a local chancer named Cosmo 🐈‍⬛ 🥰 🐾

We've recently had this beautiful cat visiting one of our feeding stations in Ellon. They are a black domestic short haired and their left ear appears to be tipped which usually means they’ve already been neutered.

At the moment they don't visit every day but they have been spotted a few times over the last month. We don't know if they're a local community cat or if they belong to someone nearby and are just scrounging an extra meal, so we're hoping our followers might be able to help.

If this is your cat, or if you recognise them, we'd love to hear from you. We like to know who's visiting our feeding stations so we can make sure every cat is safe and getting the care they need. ❤️

Please share this post to help us identify our mystery visitor.

Unfortunately, we handed in this cat today. Some lovely person wrapped him and popped on the side and shared on our local page. We were away at the time so poor boy been there for days 😞

Please if you see a deceased cat, if you can safely take to the vets they can scan it for a chip to see if belongs to a home 🙏🐾😞

😼 When Charlie met George...

Yesterday morning, Charlie was enjoying a very early breakfast at one of our feeding shelters when George arrived shortly afterwards... Let's just say George wasn't happy to find Charlie already there!

What followed was a seven minute stand off, with George loudly making it very clear that he thought Charlie should leave. Charlie, however had other ideas and wasn't budging! Eventually, George admitted defeat and sat patiently nearby until Charlie had finished eating. Only then did he make his move for breakfast.

George might be small, but he's certainly determined... and very, very vocal! 🤣

🔊 If you have cats at home, you might want to turn your volume down before watching... George has plenty to say! 😆🐈

👋🏻 Hello and welcome to all our new followers! 👋🏻

We've had quite a few new people join our page recently, so we thought we'd introduce ourselves.

Ellon's Feral Cats is a small, independent TNR (Trap • Neuter • Return) group run by just two dedicated volunteers and two wonderful helpers who care for our feeding colonies every day. Our aim is to improve the lives of community cats, reduce the number of unwanted kittens, and make Ellon a kinder place for cats.

At the moment we're caring for:
🐾 Charlie (our long-term resident and chief recruiter! 😹)
🐾 George, who is currently being trap trained before losing his ‘pom poms’ 🐈✂️
🐾 A new black visitor who appears to have already been neutered 🐈‍⬛

It's not just community cats we help either. Over the past nine months we've also helped reunite three much-loved missing cats with their families
❤️Toffee who was missing for 4 months
❤️Pushkin who was missing for 6 months
❤️ Binx who was lost for an incredible three years.

The infographic below explains what TNR is and why it's so important. As a small local rescue we rely entirely on donations and fundraising to continue helping cats in our community. Every donation, no matter how big or small helps provide neutering, veterinary care, food, shelters and other essentials.

💕 If you'd like to support our work, you can make a donation using the bank details above or from our Amazon Wish List 💕

🐾 Thank you so much. 🐾

🐾 True Story! 🐾

Charlie has been a regular at one of our feeding stations for around two years.

Since April he's decided to invite a couple of friends along to enjoy the free meals! 😹

First came a handsome ginger tabby we've named George, and more recently a black domestic short haired cat. Thankfully, it looks like their ear has already been tipped, so they have likely already been neutered. ❤️ George, however is still proudly sporting his 'pom poms' ✂️🙈, so we're currently trap training him ready for his trip to the vet.

Now we're just waiting to see if Charlie has sent the invitation to anyone else... 🐈🐈‍⬛

💬 Does anyone else think Charlie has secretly created a neighbourhood group chat? 😂

🐾😻 Do you remember Archie? 😻🐾

Back in November a tabby kitten showed up at one of our feeding shelters. After a social media shout out for his owner with zero response, we found him a new home. It wasn’t safe for Archie to be returned to where he was found, as being so young he wasn’t very ‘streetwise’. After he was neutered in December he went to live with a lovely family to be an outdoor cat in the countryside since he was feral.

Unfortunately, at New Year Archie became very unwell. His new family took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Pneumonia. Archie was put on a long course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories which was not easy to give to a 6 month old fluff ball of teeth and claws!! Archie’s family persevered, and with medication and love, his health improved.

Seven months later and Archie isn’t quite so feral now, in fact he’s a bit of a softie!! He has settled in very well with his family and often wanders into the house to say hello and will often make himself at home on their comfy chair. Archie loves attention almost as much as he loves ‘Lick-e-Licks’ and chicken! It just goes to show that with the right environment and with people who can see past the hisses and their fear, even the grumpiest of kittens can turn into the most amazing companions 🥰.

💕 Check out Archie’s interaction on yesterday’s reel if you haven’t seen it already. 💕
