Building optimism and confidence in the babies! ⭐️🥳 That’s socialisation 😎

🚫🐾 Myth Busting Friday 🐾🚫

❌ “My puppy needs to meet EVERYTHING before 16 weeks old or they’ll never cope.”

This can actually put a lot of pressure on owners… and overwhelm puppies too 👀

Socialisation isn’t about forcing puppies to interact with as many dogs, people, places, and objects as possible 💡

It’s about creating positive experiences and helping them build confidence, optimism, and resilience 🧠✨

A confident puppy doesn’t need to have seen every single thing in the world…

They need to learn:
✅ The world is safe
✅ Novelty isn’t scary
✅ They can look to YOU for guidance
✅ Recovery from worry is possible

That’s how we help shape a brain that can cope with new experiences later in life 💖🐶

Sometimes less is more 🙌🏽

Calm exposure, play GAMES, confidence building, and allowing puppies to process the world at THEIR pace is far more important than ticking off a giant socialisation checklist 🐾

Quality over quantity always ✨

☀️🐾 Hot Weather Reminder 🐾☀️

As the warmer weather arrives, remember our dogs can struggle in the heat much more quickly than we do 🌡️🐶

A few simple ways to help keep them safe and comfortable:

💧 Always have fresh water available
🌳 Walk early morning or later evening when it’s cooler
🔥 Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
🧊 Use cooling mats, frozen treats, or enrichment at home
🚫 Never leave dogs in cars, even for a few minutes

If you do need to take your dog out for toilet trips, or because they can’t be left at home:
🐾 Keep trips short
💧 Take water with you
🌳 Stick to shaded areas where possible
🐶 Let them move at their own pace

Remember… mental enrichment can tire dogs out just as much as physical exercise 🧠✨

Sniffing games, training, scatter feeding, lick mats, and calm enrichment activities are perfect for hot days ☀️💖

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly

🐾✨ TOP TIP TUESDAY ✨🐾

Recall isn’t just about teaching the word “COME”…

It’s about building a relationship where your dog chooses YOU over the environment 🧠💖

The outside world is exciting:
👃 Sniffing
🐕 Other dogs
🍂 Wildlife
⚽ Movement

So if we want reliable recall, we need to become part of the fun too 🙌🏽

Next time you’re out, don’t just practise calling your dog back…

✨ Take their favourite toy
✨ Bring extra tasty food
✨ Play chase
✨ Have a game of tug
✨ Scatter treats for them to hunt and sniff out

Engagement creates value, and value builds connection 🐾

The more fun, rewarding, and safe your dog feels with YOU, the more they’ll naturally want to check in and come back 💛

Training isn’t just obedience — it’s reshaping the brain and strengthening the relationship 🐶✨

🚫🐾 Myth Busting Friday 🐾🚫

❌ “Neutering will fix my dog’s behaviour.”

This is one I hear ALL the time 👀

While neutering can help with some hormone-driven behaviours in certain dogs, it is NOT a magic fix for:
❌ Reactivity
❌ Poor recall
❌ Pulling on the lead
❌ Over excitement
❌ Barking
❌ Anxiety or fear-based behaviours

Behaviour is influenced by so many things:
🧠 Genetics
🐾 Learning history
🌍 Environment
💛 Emotions
🎓 Training

In some cases, neutering too early can even increase insecurity or fearful behaviours in certain dogs.

Every dog is an individual, which is why behaviour and training support should always be tailored to the dog in front of you 🙌🏽🐶

Training, consistency, and understanding the WHY behind behaviour are what create lasting results 💖

Have you ever been told neutering would “solve” a behaviour problem? 👇

⚠️ Blue-green algae has been confirmed in the meanders. ⚠️

It can be toxic to people and animals, stay out of the water and keep dogs on leads.

If you have been in contact with the water and feel ill, please seek immediate medical or veterinary advice.
