👋 Hi, I’m Frankie.

I’m a young lurcher looking for my forever home.
People are my absolute favourite — I love being around them, whether we’re out for a walk or just relaxing together. I’m playful and full of energy, but I also really enjoy a good relax on the couch once I’ve had my fun.

I’m still learning about the world, so I’d really like a home where I can get a little guidance, plenty of company, and space to stretch my legs. In return, I’ll be a loyal and loving companion who just wants to be part of the family.

This morning we had the nicest visit from one of our previous adopters – Dylan Naylor!

Dylan has been busy growing a stunning collection of succulents and plants, and selling them to raise funds for our dogs. How incredible is that?! 👏👏

Not only did he raise a cash donation, but he also used part of the money raised to buy a huge supply of dog food and treats. 🐾❤️

Dylan, you are AMAZING – thank you so much for your kindness and hard work! 🌟

It’s thanks to wonderful supporters like you that our charity can keep helping dogs in need. 🐶💖

✨We have some HUGE news that we have been dreaming about sharing for years...✨

Our longest term dog (EVER) has finally found her people!
The gorgeous Skye is now living the dream after 1548 days in kennels.
Here is a little update from her new family...

"Rescuing Skye has been the highlight of our year. We were looking for a new rescue and just by chance I stumbled across the Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue Centre website, where I was greeted by the beautiful, smiley face of Skye and instantly fell in love. Despite not meeting all of her criteria I knew she was meant for us, so reached out to the centre and asked if they would consider us, and thankfully they were willing to listen! We live a very long way away, but once we'd met her and she accepted us, the staff were brilliant at expediting their processes, without cutting any corners to make sure we were genuinely what Skye needed.

Skye is a testament to the dedication, care and love of all the staff, volunteers, and trustees of DGCRC. Many rescues would have washed their hands of a dog like Skye, or, at best, accepted that she was going to be a lifelong resident. But the team at DGCRC never, ever gave up hope for Skye and did everything they could to help her. From organising specialist training and behaviour support, to hearing and pain control tests. They helped her thrive, and most importantly, kept believing that somewhere, somehow, her forever home was waiting for her.

Skye definitely has a lot of challenges to overcome, but we already know that she's going to be worth every single second of effort. She's such a sunny and happy girl, and we're so glad that she's part of our family. She's here to stay!

If you are thinking of rescuing a dog, please don't overlook the long term residents. They're just as deserving of a sofa to call their own, and will repay your efforts many times over with love, loyalty and cuddles. And remember, if you rescue one dog, you're actually changing the lives of two - the one you welcome into your family, and the lucky dog who takes their place in the rescue, ready to find a home of their own."

Running for Billy ❤️🐾

Running in Memory of Billy: Ross Fraser's Half Marathon for our dogs! 🐾🐾🐾

We were deeply touched to hear from Ross Fraser and his partner Katherine Bugden, who adopted their beloved dog Billy from us back in September 2019. After six wonderful years together, Ross and Katherine sadly had to say goodbye to Billy on the 27th of May.

To honour Billy’s memory, Ross has signed up to run the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon on the 5th of October — and he’s chosen to raise funds for our charity as a tribute to the joy Billy brought into their lives.

Ross shared, “I would be honoured to run and raise money in Billy's name for you.”

We’re incredibly grateful for Ross’s support and moved by his heartfelt gesture. As he begins his fundraising journey, we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.
