Are you thinking about adopting a dog? 🐶❤️

Head over to our website to see all of the dogs currently looking for their forever homes.

We use a matchmaking process to make sure every dog finds the home that's the best fit for them. So, if you're not successful with the first application, please don't be discouraged. It doesn't mean you're not the right adopter – it just means that particular match wasn't quite right.

The perfect companion could be just around the corner, and we'll help you find them.

Once you apply your details stay on our system for 6 months so if another dog comes in that might be a good match just give us a call.

We've just welcomed some new faces to the website today, so why not take a look?🏡🐾

🌟 A huge thank you to Bill and Bunty🌟

It was their 50th wedding anniversary and instead of presents they very kindly opted for people to donate to charity. DGCRC being one of the lucky ones chosen!
A Huge £900 was raised for us, the generosity from these guys and their friends and family is incredible. Thank you from everyone here at the centre.
Especially Yogi who decided he'd accept the cheque personally!❤️

🌟We would like to say a huge thank you to Daisie for coming up to see us yesterday. She brought us a £280 collection from Jackie Nugents funeral service.
We were told Jackie was a huge dog lover. Thank you for thinking of us. This will help dogs like Star here, have full bellies and extra treats here at the centre..❤️

✨📣Special Foster Home Needed📣✨

We're looking for a very special foster home for Yogi.

Although he's not an old dog, Yogi has advanced arthritis. We've put together a treatment plan that includes pain management and physical therapy, now he needs a calm, loving home where he can rest and recover. A kennel simply isn't the best environment for a dog going through this kind of treatment.

At this stage, we can't say how much Yogi's mobility will improve. What we do know is that he deserves to spend this time surrounded by the comfort, love, and security of a home while we give him every opportunity to feel better.

We're looking for a foster carer who can offer Yogi plenty of love and attention, as well as a quiet place to recuperate. As part of his ongoing care, they'll need to be able to drive him to his rehabilitation sessions and veterinary appointments, so ideally we're looking for someone who lives locally to us to make these regular trips manageable.

❤️Yogi is a sweet, loving, friendly guy who adores everyone he meets. He is a real joy to be around ❤️

If you think you could give Yogi the care, comfort, and support he needs, we'd love to hear from you.🤞🤞🤞

💜 Meet Nova – our wonderful golden oldie looking for her forever home! 💜

At 11 years young, Nova proves that age really is just a number! She's a volunteer favourite with a big personality, plenty of energy, and an even bigger love for tennis balls (although we do have to limit her ball sessions, as too much excitement can leave her feeling a little stiff afterwards).

Nova is incredibly food motivated, making her a joy to bond with and reward. She's still an active girl who loves getting out and about. While she can be a little vocal when meeting other dogs on the lead, she's much happier off lead. Although she could live with another calm, well-matched dog, she may prefer to be an only dog.

As an older lady, Nova does come with the usual aches and niggles that can come with age. She's currently not on any medication, but she'll need an owner who is happy to keep an eye on her mobility and watch for any changes as she gets older.

Nova's ideal home:

🐾 A calm home where she can enjoy her retirement adventures.

🐾 Could live with another calm, compatible dog.

👧 Children aged 8 years and over.

🎾 Someone who'll enjoy playing with her while remembering that moderation is key!

Nova has so much love left to give and is ready to spend her golden years with a family who'll cherish her. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a playful spirit and a heart of gold, Nova could be the one for you. ❤️

Please get in touch if you'd like to meet this lovely lady!

Meet Mindy ❤️

Mindy has been thriving in her foster home and has shown herself to be an adaptable, affectionate, and easy-going little girl.

She has settled beautifully into a home without a strict routine due to her foster family's work patterns, proving that she's happy to fit into almost any lifestyle. As long as she's with her people, she's content.

Mindy absolutely loves being outdoors. Whether it's exploring somewhere new or heading out for a gentle walk. She loves travelling in the car and meeting new people, making her a wonderful companion for days out.

In the home, Mindy is a pleasure to have around. She's fully house-trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside. She's incredibly quiet too—her foster family's neighbours didn't even realise they had a dog for quite some time because she very rarely barks.

Mindy has lovely manners and listens well. She understands commands such as "wait," "bed," and "no." Although she hasn't quite mastered "sit" on cue, she's eager to please and responds well to guidance. She also knows that she's not allowed into the dining room while her foster family are eating, so she'll happily wait on the sofa until they're finished.

She is friendly with the dogs she meets out on walks, although she isn't particularly fond of the farm dog that visits her foster home.

Mindy is a truly special little dog.

She's loving, gentle, well behaved, and ready to find a forever family who will enjoy sharing life's adventures with her. We have no doubt she'll make a wonderful addition to the lucky home that adopts her.
