LOVING THE SPACE TO SOCIALISE AND CHILL.....

This group show us exactly why we created our rehoming rooms with lots of space and areas for the cats to relax, socialise and get used to being around people when the cleaning takes place. For the cats that maybe have to wait slightly longer to find a home, we feel this is a nicer environment for them than individual pens. Think they agree!!

A GOOD MONTH FOR REHOMING!

August has been a very good month, we have rehomed over 40 cats and kittens!! It is lovely to see so many go off to their new homes, it makes it all worthwhile.

However, sometimes you feel you are fighting a losing battle, especially as regards the kittens. With so many in rescue, it is still the "less pretty" ones that get left behind. They are all so lovely, but get overlooked all the time. Don't get us wrong, we have rehomed a number of black and black/white kittens, but it is the tabbys, gingers, torties, that go first. Why?

Also, you have people "selling" kittens on gumtree and facebook. And people still do not understand (or want to understand) why this is so wrong. Letting their cat have litter after litter just so they can make a few pounds and you get the colour of kitten you want. And what makes it more difficult to understand is the amount people are paying for these kittens! They have had nothing done, no flea/worming treatments, no microchip, no vacciantions and no neutering. All rescue kittens have this done and for only a few pounds more. So why do people do it??

There is a real problem in rescue with the number of unwanted/abandoned cats, kittens born outside, etc. So please support the rescues.........ADOPT DON'T SHOP!! Let's put a stop to unnecessary and irresponsible breeding.

And please, no unnecessary comments about rescues rehoming policies. They are there for a reason, and each application is looked at individually. At the end of the day it is the welfare of the cats and kittens that is the most important consideration.

RAIN, GLORIOUS RAIN 🌧!!!

After weeks and weeks of hot, dry weather, the cats are getting used to rain drops and wet paws again!

STILL MORE KITTENS!

We have rehomed over 30 kittens in the last month, but still have 40 kittens here. Some are too young to be rehomed yet, being just a few weeks old. As quick as we can rehome them, more come in!

This includes 4 very sweet young black kittens dumped in a cardboard box at a vets.

All the ginger, tabby and grey kittens have been rehomed. But plenty of lovely, friendly, playful black and black/white ones still looking for a home. They are just so lovely and would be so good in a home with children. They love to play and climb up your legs! Simply adorable!

We just wish more people would get their cats neutered.......no excuses. This is the reason rescues are under pressure.

WELL DONE TEAM.....

Our volunteers have been absolute stars today. We've had no water ALL day so cleaning and washing up has been a nightmare. They've also all brought in lots of bottled water, so kind of them as Anglian Water had left us in a real muddle! We hope the cats have all enjoyed drinking their posh mineral 💧!!

WE ARE IN THE FINAL!

We are looking forward to the final awards ceremony in September.

WHY NOT ME?!

We have a lot of kittens here, and although we are rehoming many of them, it always seems to be the black and black/white ones that get left until last. Why is that?

They are all very lovely, super friendly and would fit well into almost any home. They do need to go in pairs as they are very social kittens and love snuggling up together. They are also very cheeky and do like to climb up your legs! Such fun!

Some have had a bad start in life, and a few have had to have an eye removed, but this does not stop them! It is amazing to see a little kitten the day after their surgery without a care in the world and running round like nothing has happened.

So please if you are looking for a pair of cheeky litttle kittens, do give a thought to the black ones.

With so many daily jobs to do at the moment we had to advertise for a laundry assistant. Malcolm had all the right qualifications and could start straight away....

KITTENS AT VENTURE FARM

A big thank you to Richard at Insightmediaproductions.co.uk for producing another video for us.

It highlights how many kittens we have here, and the reason for that is people are still not neutering their "much loved" pets. It is the same at every rescue at the moment.

You will note in the video that there are a few one eyed kittens. This is because they were very poorly when they came to us and had cat flu symptoms. Even with intensive eye drop treatments and antibiotics, they sadly lost one eye. But kittens being kittens, they just don't worry about it, running around and playing as normal! Amazing!

We have many kittens here, of all ages, with a number now reserved and off to their new homes. So if you are looking for a pair of young kittens, then please get in touch via email at [email protected].
