Everyone meet Louis 🥹
Louis is 12 weeks old and came in today for his first ever puppy groom. The reason this is super important is to get them desensitised to being in the groomers and their equipment. Things like the bath, blow dryer and clippers. When you get them in at a young age, moving forward it just becomes part of their routine. They learn to be handled safely, prevents fear of equipment, creates a bond between dog and groomer, and just allows grooming a much calmer and safer experience for everyone.
Outcomes for leaving grooming too late:
🐾 Fear of the groomer
🐾 Highly stressful for the dog
🐾 Matting - and I can’t stress this enough… Painful!
🐾 Nail trims become almost impossible
Just all round not a pleasant experience for them, so let’s get them all in early. We all love a puppy groom!
Today, Louis had a bath, blow dry, brush, nail trim and eye trim. Nothing too strenuous but enough to get him used to different sensations. He absolutely smashed it on his first time - and come the end it was all too much and fell asleep waiting for mum and dad to collect him 🥹 🫶🏼
