After a lovely time off relaxing and … doing more walking 😂 Walks and training resume again tomorrow. It’s going to be a cold week so please leave jumpers and coats out for the dogs that need them and I look forward to seeing everyone again!

I got Millie when she was 7 months old. She was a rescue, and I thought I was getting a young, shapeable puppy.
Instead, I got an unsocialised dog who was scared of almost everything and carried a lot of fear and frustration due to being passed around from home to home. She was reactive to most people and all dogs, had no engagement, pulled constantly on the lead, had no manners, and didn’t listen.

Fast forward to now.

Millie can go for walks off lead. She can heel past other dogs, ignore people talking to her or trying to approach her, recall back to me, and listen when it matters. But most importantly — she is happy.

This is what dog training is about to me.

It’s not about having a dog that obeys every command or acts like a robot. It’s about helping dogs learn how to function in the world. Teaching them neutrality. Helping them feel safe, confident, and calm enough to just exist without everything feeling overwhelming or scary.

Progress like this doesn’t come from shortcuts. It comes from consistency, patience, and showing up every single day, even when it’s hard and doesn’t feel like it’s working.

Don’t get me wrong, Millie is still a very feisty girl. But the Millie now is a whole lot better than the Millie then and that’s the power of hard work done right

Here are this weeks new faces.
Otis is an 10 week old labradoodle puppy who’s come to me for the general puppy training and advice
Fidel is an almost 8 year old husky! He has come over from Hungary so while he’s settling in we are helping him with his reactivity towards other dogs. He did brilliantly in his first session.
Olive is a 4.5 month old Labrador puppy, she is very excitable by life so we are working on her impulse control, manners and general life skills!

November has been a busy month! Here are the walking photos. As it’s getting colder and muddier, just a little reminder to leave out any coats or jumpers your pups have, to help keep them warm and reduce the mud. They won’t come home squeaky clean, but I’ll always wipe their paws to get the worst of it off 🐾
