Equine Flu has been confirmed in Fife.
Good biosecurity is important particularly at shows and with new horses to yards.
Equine Flu can spread up to 3 miles on the wind under optimum conditions.
To reduce severity and clinical signs we would recommend vaccination. To get good protection a horse will require a first and second vaccination (given 21-60 days apart). For longer term protection a third vaccination is required.

I grew up in a small village in Upstate New York, did my first degree in Massachusetts, and graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2011. After stints in equine, mixed and small animal practice in the US, my husband and I settled in Fife in 2013 and we have been here ever since!

In work I love seeing all different sorts of companion animals, particularly the older pets, and I also particularly enjoy surgery and dental work, but I love the variety of GP practice the most.

Outside of work you can find me spending time with our son, walking our whippet Mouse, crafting, and doing medieval re-enactment when there's time!

👩🏻 🎉New Equine Team Member 🎉👩🏻

Meet Beth Pyzer

I joined the Eden equine practice in April 2026, after making the move from South East England. Having been raised in Cornwall, my love of the countryside and the outdoors started at an early age.

I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2020, before moving back down to Cornwall to work for an equine practice there for a couple of years. I then spent almost 4 years at a busy sports horse practice in Berkshire, caring for all sorts of equines, from polo ponies to dressage horses to Shetlands.

When not at work, You will usually find me by the sea - walking my little orange dog Tilly, surfing, paddle boarding or Scuba diving. If not at the beach, I might be travelling the country for a rock gig!

I am particularly interested in equine dentistry and internal medicine, and nothing brightens her day like encountering a donkey on her travels!

🎉Newest equine vet to join the Eden Equine team 🎉
Meet Chloe,
Having wanted to be an equine vet since the minute I could talk, I graduated from Edinburgh University in 2023 and moved to Tipperary, Ireland to work in a large equine hospital with a huge caseload of everything from lameness and surgery to internal medicine and foal ICU care.
I then came back to Edinburgh to work at the Dick Vet Equine Hospital where I again rotated around the lameness/diagnostic imaging, dentistry and medicine services, with a wide range of out of hours emergency care.
I now call Fife home and have felt very welcome over my first few weeks of joining the Eden Equine team thanks to all the lovely clients and their horses/ponies!
I have my own horse called Archie, who’s a 22yo Welsh D cross and this is where you’ll find me in my spare time, along with my Shetland Sheepdog Orla.
