Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK

Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK SSDRUK, a non-profit organisation who rehomes abandoned and mis-treated dogs from Spain to the UK. Rescue back up is in place on all adoptions.

Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK is responsible for rehoming abandoned and often abused dog from Spain to the UK. We work alongside the registered charity Scooby Protectoria de Animales in Medina Del Campo, Northern Spain. SSDRUK is run entirely by volunteers who are responsible for finding permanent adoption homes throughout the UK and take care of all the stages from bringing your chosen Spanish res

cue from the shelter to the UK. Our aim is to help Scooby Medina rehome their abandoned, abused and mis-treated dogs. Sadly there is simply not enough demand at this present time to all be rehomed in Spain and this will not change until the current Spanish laws are amended to include the hunting dog. SSDRUK has now also established their own rescue premises in Wistaston, Cheshire where we have the space to temporarily shelter up to 20 dogs who are on their way to seeking their own permanent home with families throughout the UK. There will sometimes be available a small number of un-adopted dogs which will be available for meet and greets, strictly by appointment only. The work of SSDRUK is responsible for feeding and looking after these dogs and all their needs whilst in our care. Alternatively dogs which are pre-adopted from Spain also all arrive at our shelter in Wistaston, Cheshire. There is then a 48 hour period before collection to comply with DEFRA new ruling. It is the responsibility of the adopters to collect their dog from the premises after the 48 hour window. You can contact us anytime on Facebook messenger regarding any questions you may have about any of the dogs which are being offered up for adoption, how we operate or possibly even if you want to offer help in anyway. If you think you have found your perfect canine partner on this page, please send us your email address and we will forwards you our standard guidance notes which include all the ins and outs you should consider before adopting a dog from Spain and also an adoption questionnaire to fill in regarding your personal details. These are used to help us ensure that the potential adopter is suitable for their chosen dog. Once accepted, a video home check will be required to ensure that everything is in place and as it should be for when your chosen canine friend arrives. All dogs will be spayed or neutered accordingly and will be passported, wormed and microchipped. All this is included in the adoption fee as well as health screening as set out below. There are some diseases related to Spanish dogs related to sand-flies and tick bites that are not an issue for dogs in the UK. Please note your dog will be screened for Leishmaniosis, Dirofilariasis, Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis before the adoption process is finalised. More about these diseases can be obtained from SSDRUK if you require more information. Your dog will be vaccinated for Canine Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza. Your dog will also be inoculated from rabies as a precaution in line with DEFRA policy even though rabies is not an issue in Spain. They will receive a final overall health check by a vet before leaving Spain and arrive in the UK with a required valid health certificate. Costs include adoption fee, import duty and DEFRA regulated transport travel fee. The total cost to adopt a dog is £550.00 (£300 adoption fee, £250.00 travel fee). SSDRUK also have a small selection of Sponsor Dogs available where the travel fee will be covered by generous donators and fund raising. This would leave only the adoption cost of £300 for these selected if you were to adopt. These dogs have been carefully selected from ones that have been in the shelter for several years or more due to their invisibility to potential adopters. MORE ABOUT SCOOBY PROTECTORIA DE ANIMALES, MEDINA DEL CAMPO, SPAIN (a charity registered in Spain who we have chosen to work alongside with in the sole purpose of advancing animal welfare)

Scooby Protectoria is a shelter in rural Spain, deep in the coursing countryside. The shelter is purpose built but basic. The premises was established over 30 years ago and did not have running water or electricity in the shelter’s early days. Over the years through tenacious fund-raising and hard work Scooby’s founders have moved the shelter to a new level with utilities and an on-site veterinary clinic. Scooby can now be responsible for sheltering up to 1000 animals at a time who are abandoned, brought in off the streets or are rescued from Spain's perreras (notoriously known as killing shelters). Scooby not only rescue dogs, they are also awash with cats, horses and goats which have also been saved. Available to adopt - INDIO (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK)
INDIO is a wonderful German Shepherd boy of 12 years who has a lovely calm temperament but is also happy and very loving. Indio was the kennel friend to Faya who has just been re-homed in the UK. He has been in the shelter for many years and really deserves his chance too. A real sweet character who adores people and would make a perfect companion. A secure garden would be needed as he has been known to climb in the past but again, this will more than likely to have been to try and reach people due to the isolated life of a shelter dog. If you can provide Indio with the home he deserves, please just message.

WIFI has been in the shelter for a few years now through no fault of his own and it would be lovely to finally find him a home at long last. Wifi is a boxer cross boy of 5 years. He is lively, very loving and playful and also good with other dogs. He will make a great all round family pet who would be your best friend for life. If you have a home for Wifi, please just message.

Available to adopt - KATIE (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK)
KATIE is a super affectionate German Shepherd girl. She is friendly but polite and waits her turn for a fuss. A very obedient dog, she would make a great family companion. She lives with 2 dogs and is dominant with the female but seems to approve of the male so a home with another male or an only dog would perhaps be best. If you have the right home for Katie, please just message. Age to follow.

Available to adopt - SANTOS (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK)
SANTOS the English Setter arrived at the shelter very worried and scared. Santos has however settled in well and follows the staff around everywhere for a fuss, his tail now wagging. A real gentle soul. He is very comfortable in the company of other dogs so would perhaps be best going to a home with an already resident dog. Santos is around 8 years old and does have cataracts but these have been checked and are not causing him any problems at the moment so we are hoping this won't prevent Santos from finding a loving home that he so deserves. If you would like to express your interest, please just message.

SSDRUK SPONSOR DOG - Serenna's travel fees from Spain will be covered by SSDRUK fundraising.
Available for adoption - SERENNA (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK)
SERENNA is an older crossbreed girl of 11 years. We are hoping that there is someone out there willing to give an older dog a chance. Serenna is super friendly and loves a fuss. A really gentle loving nature, she would be the perfect family pet. She gets on well with other dogs. She has been in the shelter for a very long time and is classed as one of the invisible dogs with little chance of finding a deserved home. If you can offer Serenna the home she truly deserves, please message.

Available to adopt - LUPITA (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK)
LUPITA (nickname Zula) is a grandma Yorkshire Terrier who is hoping for someone to offer her a safe home for the rest of her years. She is approximately 11 years of age this however does not take away at all from her fun and loving nature. She would make a super companion and friend as she is still full of fun and love. She adores people especially cuddles and is a very sweet happy soul. Lupita gets along great with other dogs too. If you are interested in adopting Lupita, please just message.

SSDRUK SPONSOR DOG - GONZALO's travel fees from Spain will be covered by SSDRUK fundraising.
Available to adopt - GONZALO (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK).
Here we have GONZALO, a beautiful Galgo cross boy of 3 years and brother to Dorotea who is also available to adopt. They both came into the shelter as part of a litter of puppies and they are both still waiting for a home. Gonzalo has a lovely friendly nature, adores people and mixes well with other dogs. Dorotea and Gonzalo are probably overlooked because they are lurchers and not purebred but that doesn't make them any less lovable. A very affectionate boy who deserves to be part of someone's family. If you think you could provide Gonzalo with a loving home for life, please just message to our page above.

Available to adopt - DULCINEA (currently in Spain but ready to travel to the UK)
DULCINEA is looking for a patient, preferably experienced home. She is a striking looking girl who has been in the shelter many years due to her nervousness around people. She is now 8 years old and has slowly improved in the shelter over time but a home of her own would make the biggest difference. A big ask and not what most of our adopters are looking for but I m hoping that there might be a place for her somewhere. She is gentle natured and gets on well with other dogs. A home with another confident dog already would be a benefit. She is more confident around people when on a lead. Long walks with this girl will definitely help build up that bond of trust. If you think you can provide Dulcinea with her chance of a home, please message.
