Spotted holes or ragged edges on your plant's leaves? A few different things cause this, and they're easy to mix up.

Small, even pinprick holes starting on older leaves - usually a potassium or micronutrient shortfall, not pests.

Irregular, chewed-looking edges - almost always snails having a snack.

Tearing right at the thinnest part of a leaf - strong filter flow catching delicate growth.

Look at where the damage is and what shape it is before you reach for a treatment. It tells you which of the three you're actually dealing with.

This week's spotlight: Bucephalandra kedagang.

One of the most reliable Bucephalandra varieties - long, narrow dark-green leaves with fine pale dots. Thrives in low light and does best attached to driftwood or rock rather than planted in substrate. Properly slow-growing too, so it won't swamp the rest of your layout.

Great pick if you want something textured and a bit different for mid-ground hardscape. £10.99.
