🔨 N E W P R O J E C T 🔨

The Cat Tree arrived yesterday at 3pm. By 5pm I had painted one coat of black. By 8pm, two coats of black. By 9am a further third coat of black and by 1pm I manhandled it onto the wall.

Very pleased with how it looks and it was the final piece to the 'L' shaped cat wall outside in the catio. Of course, Xiomara was the first one to use it and Viktori, the first to vomit on it!

And thank you Minoan for the tip about spiders web removal. I didn't burn the catio down either. It all looks clean and bright again, fluff free.

HAPPY 1ST PURRDAY to CLIFFORD

Can it really be a whole year that this ginger orange bundle of mayhem came into our lives and turned them upside down with love, laughter and naughtiness.

His family are amazing, he is one very lucky boy to have all the love they shower on him despite his hilarious food thievery. Typical DRX.

🐝 BEE & WASP SEASON IS HERE 🐝

FIRST THING - KEEP CALM!!!!

1️⃣ Try to remove the stinger, if you find one, with a credit card. Never pick or squeeze it or the little sac can release more venom into the paw.

2️⃣ Administer 5mg (small cat) 10mg (big cat) of Citerazine or piriton as soon as you can. This should always be in your first aid box.
🔥 RING YOUR VET IF STUNG IN MOUTH.

3️⃣ IF you have Metacam, administer per size on the syringe to help with inflammatory response and pain. Never give to a cat with upset tummy.
🔥 RING YOUR VET IF UNSURE.

4️⃣ Apply cold damp cloth or bag of peas to the area to reduce swelling. They will be in a lot of pain. Keep sessions short and repeat often, giving them a little break in-between.

5️⃣ KEEP a very close eye out for allergic reaction, excessive swelling, difficulty breathing, lethargic or floppy or being sick and in a lot of pain and crying / hissing.
🔥 RING YOUR VET

6️⃣ BEE STING (as this was) we use a bicarb paste mix to cover the area and lightly bandage to draw out the venom.

7️⃣ WASP STINGS require a vinegar bath to neutralize the sting.

🔥 ONLY GIVE ANTIHISTAMINE/ METACAM IN CORRECT CIRCUMSTANCES. NOT EVERY CAT CAN HAVE METACAM. PLEASE BE GUIDED BY VETRINATY ADVICE IF YOU ARE UNSURE.

😻 Here at Maystar HQ we have rushed many cats and kittens to the vets with breathing difficulties when they have bitten a bee. With paws, we tend to take a home remedy approach and keep a very close eye on them. Reactions happen VERY QUICKLY. Often having antihistamines on hand and given immediately, can save a life.

Malik - MAYSTAREX KING MANSA MUSA was a very lucky and brave kitten. He slept well with the antihistamine and metacam and has woken up full if beans to probably try his luck at bee bashing again 🙈

MR ELTON UPDATE
I popped around to see Elts and Liza-Marie today. Mr E is doing great, he is very happy, put lots of weight on and seems very chilled in his new home.

We keep an eye on them both to make sure they gel well together and they certainly do. It's good to see the healing for both animal & human taking place.

It took us a little while to figure out just how she had got onto the windowsill of a LOCKED ROOM!! Then she tried it again. Honestly, she is so ridiculously clever.

It's been a busy day here at Maystar HQ. We had visitors. Reeva Rae's family came up for a visit. It was lovely to see them. Viktori eluded everyone and skipped off down the garden and evaded entrapment by being just one paw ahead. Very cute
