Blueoaks small pet sanctuary

I dont like turning animals away 😢!
But I do need to stress ,that blueoaks is a sanctuary, for unhomeable small animals !
We create a peaceful place for the ones who bite ,attack , dislike humans , old , disabled and emergency wildlife and stray or need medical help.!

Last 2 weeks we've had around 15 messages asking to take in unwanted pets ( mostly Rabbits) . I will work with all owners in finding a loving home and will work witj the new owners in any help and advice etc
But if we take in the unwanted family pet, we then have no room for the ones who have near to zero future !
As many are aware , the moment an animal is out of rehabilitation, deemed healthy , or no longer a bite/breakdown risk ... they find their person to love them ! The ones that dont pass ,stay here until the day theyre called home !
Just like "fizzy".. the mouse who reminded me today,just why she wouldn't be a good pet, unless you enjoy having a diddy mouse hang from your finger 😉 ! 😊 ouch !!!

Poor Larry and Hatty were starting to breathe too fast , resting temp was getting high !
As you can see , the excess fur was too much to cope with for them !
Happy cool bunnies ! Others all seem comfortable.. but clippers are at the ready in case!
Disclaimer- if you aee blood, its mine , Larry thanked me with a chomp ! 🤣

Heart in throat moment !
4.30am this morning , a vixen and 2 cubs were making themselves at home in our back garden !
They couldn't get to rabbits , but our tribes were terrified !
Luckily the family fled when the dogs were let out( my boys wouldnt harm them ) and we could see how they found way in , so steel fencing will be added 👍.
Beautiful to know that they look in prime health, and I shall leave water out in the woodland behind garden for them ! But unfortunately cant have them near our small animals !

Gentle reminder in this hot weather !
Your small animals will need shade , even if inside a hutch !
Using sin umbrellas , cotton sheets etc are fab .
Also frozen bottles , floor tile placed in freezer , fans with cold bottle of water in front !

And remember, if your pet looks like it has heat stroke , DO NOT place in cold water !!! Slightly warm water and trickle the cold water into the bowl , until the temperature and breathing reduces !
There are no reasons for a pet to die in the heat ,its all preventable and im happy to chat to any owner who needs more info !

Last but not least ! My little side kick 'tarka' , father of gold 💛 tribe. He was skitty at one time . Just shows what handling and time can produce = a pocket puppy !
