💜 Why does your cat purr?

Most people think purring always means a cat is happy… but that’s only part of the story.

Cats often purr when they’re feeling relaxed, safe and content. It’s one of the beautiful ways they communicate trust and affection.

But did you know they can also purr when they’re feeling stressed, frightened, in pain or recovering from illness? Purring may even help them comfort themselves during difficult moments.

🐾 The key is to look at the whole cat – their body language, appetite, energy levels and behaviour – not just the sound they make.

As a professional cat sitter, I see every cat has their own unique way of communicating. Learning to understand these little signals helps us give them the best possible care.

💜 Has your cat ever surprised you with their purring?
I’d love to hear your stories in the comments! 👇

No filters. No edits. No staged moments. Just Lunka, me, and complete trust 🧡🐾

Listen to her purr… watch how she gently turns, showing me every part of her body that she’d like brushed next - even her tummy. For a cat, exposing their belly is one of the greatest signs of feeling safe and trusting the person they’re with 🤍

This is exactly why I never need to force affection. My goal is always to create an environment where cats feel calm, relaxed, and completely safe in my company. Watching that trust grow is the most rewarding part of being a cat sitter ✨

If you enjoy real, unfiltered moments with amazing cats, don’t forget to follow, leave a ❤️, and tell me in the comments does your cat have a favourite spot to be brushed? 🥰

☀️ Is your cat coping well with the heat?

Cats are experts at hiding discomfort, but hot weather can become dangerous much faster than many owners realise.

Knowing the early signs of overheating could make all the difference.

💧 Make sure your cat always has access to fresh, cool water.

🏡 Keep your home well ventilated and provide cool, shaded places to rest.

❄️ Never force your cat into cold water – gentle cooling and quick veterinary advice are the safest approach if you suspect heatstroke.

As a professional cat sitter, your cat’s comfort and safety are always my priority. Small daily habits can help keep our feline friends happy, healthy and safe all summer long 🐾

🌿 Could a beautiful bouquet put your cat’s life at risk?

Many cat owners are surprised to learn that lilies are one of the most dangerous plants for cats.

⚠️ Every part of the plant is toxic - including the petals, leaves, stems, pollen and even the water in the vase.

Even a small amount of pollen on your cat’s fur can be dangerous if it’s groomed off.

💚 The safest choice? Simply keep lilies out of your home if you live with cats.

As a professional cat sitter, I know how much we all love making our homes beautiful - but sometimes the prettiest flowers can hide the biggest risks.

🐾 A few minutes of awareness could save a cat’s life.

📢 Please share this post with other cat owners. You never know who might need this information today.

❤️ Does your cat have little black spots on their chin?

It might not just be dirt… it could be cat acne!

Cat acne is a common skin condition that usually appears as blackheads, small pimples or redness around the chin. While it’s often mild, it shouldn’t be ignored if it becomes swollen, sore or starts bothering your cat.

The good news? In many cases, simple changes can help.

🐾 Wash your cat’s food and water bowls every day.

🥣 Choose stainless steel or ceramic bowls instead of plastic, as plastic can harbour bacteria in tiny scratches.

👀 Keep an eye on your cat’s chin and contact your vet if the area becomes painful, swollen or doesn’t improve.

As a professional cat sitter, I see cat acne more often than many owners realise. It’s one of those small things that’s easy to miss - but catching it early can make a real difference.

💬 Have you ever noticed black spots on your cat’s chin? What helped? Share your experience in the comments - it might help another cat owner.
