Look at gorgeous Roxy! 🐶

Roxy recently came into the practice for a laparoscopic (keyhole) spay.
In these photos, you can see Vet Natasha giving Roxy her pre-op health check, Nurses Livvy and Laura preparing her for surgery, and Natasha performing the procedure. Roxy had a lovely rest in recovery and is now doing fantastic back at home!

What is a Keyhole Spay?
Unlike a traditional spay, which removes both the ovaries and the uterus through a larger incision, a keyhole spay involves removing only the ovaries through tiny keyhole incisions using a camera and keyhole equipment. Research shows that removing just the ovaries offers the exact same health benefits including preventing unwanted pregnancies and reproductive cancers while keeping surgery as gentle as possible.

Key benefits include:
• Smaller wounds & minimal scarring
• Less post-op pain and discomfort
• A much quicker recovery time

Give us a call or drop us a message if you’d like to find out more about keyhole options for your pet! 🐾

🌈 Today, on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we take a moment to remember the beloved pets who have left paw prints on our hearts.

The bond we share with our pets is truly special, and although they may no longer be by our side, the love, memories, and companionship they gave us remain forever.

If you're remembering a cherished pet today, we'd love for you to share their name or a favourite memory in the comments below💜

Everyone meet Buddy, who has been attending social school for a few months now to gain his confidence in the vets, with new friends and examinations. Today was Buddy's vaccinations day and wow what a brave boy he was. Buddy was amazing for his full examination and his vaccine and loved all of the fuss and attention the whole time. We are very proud of you Buddy, well done. 💜

On Monday evening, a mix of our wonderful Vets, Nurses, and Receptionists traded their uniforms for trainers to take part in the Charity Rounders Social sponsored by Bridge Referrals ! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Teams from across the North East Veterinary community ( Bridge Referrals Moorview Referrals Westway Veterinary Group and Blythman and Partners) came together for an evening of friendly competition and sun-drenched fun (just look at that sunset in the team photo! 🌅).

Most importantly, we were proud to help raise vital funds for Colostomy UK, supporting people living with a stoma. 💜

A massive thank you to Bridge Referrals for organizing such a brilliant event and to everyone who came out to play and support.

Meet Coco! 🐾

She first came to see us back in November last year, feeling really lethargic and off her food. After Investigations she was diagnosed with Addison’s disease a condition where the body doesn't produce enough cortisol (the essential hormone that helps manage stress, metabolism, and energy levels).

It’s been a bit of a journey for Coco, involving regular blood tests to help us fine tune her medication dosage. She is now on Zycortal, a regular injection that keeps her feeling her best.

We’re thrilled to report that Coco is doing brilliantly now and still enjoys coming in to visit us! 💜

We are open until 3pm today and she will be cared for by our veterinary team over the rest of the weekend, after this we will be contactable from Monday.

🌟 Patient Spotlight: Brave Lily! 🌟

We recently had a visit from the lovely Lily, who is nearly 15 years of age, for a dental procedure.
Lily needed 11 teeth extracted, and our team gave her remaining teeth a thorough scale and polish to strip away plaque and tartar build up. We’re delighted to report that she is recovering brilliantly and feeling much more comfortable!

As a thank you for all the care and support received Lily`s owners made the team this mouthwatering pavlova, which was very much enjoyed by the whole team.

Why Dental Care Matters in Senior Pets

As our pet’s age, dental hygiene becomes crucial for their overall health and quality of life:
Pets are experts at hiding dental pain. Even with severe tooth decay, many will continue eating, leaving owners unaware of their discomfort.
Treating dental disease restores appetite, reduces inflammation, and often gives senior pets a noticeable boost in energy.

Age alone should not prevent pets from having necessary dental care. Pre-anaesthetic blood testing, individualised pain management and tailored monitoring allow us to perform procedures safely on older patients.
