On Friday, June 19th, Kieran is taking on the Alexandra Palace Rooftop Climb scaling 130 meters above sea level across one of London’s most iconic landmarks all in aid of Vetlife ! 🧗‍♂️✨

Why am I doing this? 🤔
Caring for our beloved pets takes a heavy emotional and physical toll. Our veterinary staff—vets, nurses, students, and practice staff are always there for our animals when they need it most. 🐾❤️

Right now, demand for Vetlife is at an all-time high. They provide a completely FREE, 24/7 lifeline, professional mental health support, and financial aid to the entire UK veterinary community. I want to help keep these essential services running, but I need your support to do it!

🚨 Note to self: absolutely do not look down! 😅

👶🐶 Less time for walks, fewer cuddles, and new sights and sounds can all add up.

Welcoming a baby is a big change and your dog feels it too. It’s not that dogs become aggressive because of children, but changes to routine, attention and noise can leave some dogs feeling a little unsettled. Here’s how you can support:

🐶 Introduce items like prams and cots before baby arrives
🐶 Let them hear baby noises so nothing comes as a shock
🐶 Allow calm, supervised introductions when baby comes home
🐶 Create a quiet ‘day‑bed’ where your dog can relax nearby

⚠️ Never leave dogs alone with babies or young children. Even the gentlest dog can become confused by sudden movements or noises.

Floyd began social visits back in May 2023 after previously being nervous in the vets for exams and people in general. Over the years Floyd’s confidence has come leaps and bounds. Floyd now comes in very happy to the practice. He is much more confident with people in the practice and meeting new members of the team. Floyd is much more confident with examinations as well as vaccines etc. Floyd comes in so happy to the practice and would never say no to a treat. Floyd’s most recent check was for his 6 month health check which went very well and he was very happy for his cuddles and treats afterwards. Although the stethoscope may still be a little scary, Floyd is gaining much more confident with it that he was when he first started his social visits. Floyd has qualified from social school as our original aims have been achieved. Floyd’s visits now are maintenance visits to keep up his confidence with us.

For more information on our social school, please get in touch.

🌿 How to Prevent Tick Bites and Lyme Disease 🌿 with this useful post from Lyme Disease UK
As we head outdoors more over spring and summer, it's important to stay tick aware.
Tick bite prevention and correct removal are crucial when it comes to avoiding Lyme disease — and it only takes a few simple steps:
✅ Carry a tick removal tool with you at all times
✅ Use insect repellent during outdoor activities
✅ Avoid walking through long grass – stick to clear paths
✅ Tuck trousers into socks in grassy, wooded or overgrown areas
✅ Wear light-coloured clothing so you can spot and brush off ticks
✅ Check yourself (and others!) for ticks when you get home – don’t forget children and pets
Prevention is simple — but powerful. Let’s help more people enjoy the outdoors safely.
