Hello to the new faces who’ve found their way here!
I’m Laura—Labrador lover, nearly 51, mum of two and proud owner of a bit of a hotchpotch Instagram account.
Two years ago, my life turned upside down overnight. The kind of change that takes your breath away and not in a good way. It wasn’t a great time. I had no choice but to switch direction fast - change how I worked, become the sole provider for my kids, shift my other business entirely, and find a way to carry us all through a whole load of ‘stuff’.
And while that time was full of stress, panic, and far too many tears—something quite beautiful was beginning to unfold. A new purpose. A simpler life. And a business that gave me freedom and joy - so.much.joy.
In a blind panic I started boarding dogs from my home and what I thought would be a side hustle quickly became something much more. In under two years, it’s grown into a business that brings in a pretty stable income, fills my heart, and somehow doesn’t feel like work at all (remind me of this when it’s February and everything is caked in mud!).
With the support of some amazing people in the dog world, I’ve now added training into the mix. No plans to start wearing trousers with too many pockets or adding a Malinois to the pack—but I am good at helping people build brilliant relationships with their dogs. The kind that means they’ve got a dog they can trust, enjoy, and take anywhere with them without dreading it.
I do puppy classes in my local village hall. Do 1:1’s and I also train young dogs who come to stay here for a while and I love seeing them thrive. Patience and consistency - such a simple recipe - but so hard to achieve in today’s world.
So here’s to the messy bits of life and the growth that comes with them.
To keeping things simple.
To tight friendship circles, being properly loved, dog hair everywhere, and learning to thrive as a full time single parent more each day. To mentors and people who see the potential.
Life feels full again. Happy. Manageable. And most of all, mine.
