Hi everyone. It's the height of the summer season and we are very busy, so a good time to remind everyone of our holidays! The cattery will be closed from Sunday 16th November and will reopen on Saturday 6th December. Also, we'd like to give advanced notice that we will also be closed from Monday 23rd February 2026 and will reopen on Monday 9th March 2026. These breaks allow us to take some holiday time, as well as perform maintenance on the pens that we cannot do when cats are present.

We have already taken quite a lot of bookings for the Christmas and New Year period, so if you need a booking we recommend contacting us as soon as possible. You can email or call, complete the booking form on our website, or message us on FB.

In the meantime, here is the lovely Lulu who stayed with us recently. She's a cheeky girl! ❤️

We are very pleased to announce that we have won another award! In the Midland Enterprise Awards, we were named Best Sustainable Cattery in Derbyshire. Once again, many thanks to whoever nominated us for this award; we are proud of our composting and sustainability efforts and it is lovely to have them appreciated in this way.

Hi everyone. Whenever the weather gets warmer, we have to take measures to ensure that the cats don't get too hot. Cats naturally deal with heat pretty well but they do need some help sometimes.

Our pens have outdoor and indoor spaces which allows the cats to choose whichever area is cooler, while the sides of most pens are removable (leaving the wire netting in place obviously!) which allows any breeze to move through. We also have tarpaulins and moveable covers that can protect the pens from the sun, and we have a stock of frozen water bottles that we wrap in towels and place in the pens for the cats to lie next to. In addition, all of our water bowls have sizeable reservoirs (and are checked regularly). Finally we regularly check on the cats to make sure that there are no signs of over-heating. The cats seemed quite happy during the recent hot days so hopefully our measures are working 😄.

Hi everyone. It's been a busy few weeks here at the cattery! We have had our license renewal visit from Bolsover Council and we are pleased to let you all know that they were extremely happy and we are a 5* cattery again. We have also fostered a cat until his owner is able to take him back, so if you see a ginger cat around the garden say hello to Sammy. 😀

Advance notice that we will be taking our annual holiday and maintenance break from Sunday 16th November until Friday 5th December (inclusive).

Hi everyone. This year we have taken a lot of advance bookings and are now fully booked for most of August, as well as some weeks in May, June and July. If you need a booking, please get in contact as soon as you can to have the best chance to secure a place. (FYI, we do keep a waiting list in case of cancellations but it is unpredictable as to whether any will occur.)

Hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather as much as our guests are! Here is the lovely Sammy, basking in the sun on the shelf in his pen. He's been with us for quite a while as his owner is unwell but we are hopeful that he can go home soon. ❤️

Hi everyone. We still have a few gremlins with our email but it now appears to only be with Yahoo and AOL accounts as they have very rigid filters. If you have a Yahoo or AOL account, please can you check your Spam folder for messages, and mark all of them as Safe. This should then mean any others get delivered to your Inbox. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi everyone. We have recently moved our website to a new host server, which will allow us to develop the website ourselves so watch out for new content and photos over the next few months. We have also moved our email server - this has caused a few gremlins to surface in our sent mail so if you were expecting an email from us and did not receive it, let me know.

The cattery is starting to get busy and we have some lovely cats in at the moment, including Bubbles who is only 9 months old - he's going to be a big cat! ❤️

UPDATE: We're back up and running! 😄

Hi everyone. I have just discovered that our answerphone has not been working for the last few days - apologies for this. It appears to be fixed now so if you have tried calling and were unable to leave a message, do please try again.

Also, a quick reminder that we will be closed from Monday 24th February for a short break ahead of the busy summer season, reopening on Wednesday 5th March. We are already almost full for parts of the summer so if you do need a booking, please let us know as soon as you can to guarantee a pen space.

We are delighted to announce that our initiative to compost all of our cat waste has been recognised in the Northern Enterprise Awards as we have been named "Most Sustainable Cattery in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire". The composting initiative has taken a lot of hard work to set up but we now have a number of enclosed composting bins, together with some open compost piles, and have started to get some very rich compost for the garden. Compost from cat waste cannot be used on anything that is grown for eating but can be used anywhere else in the garden.

We would like to make our compost available for our customers so if you need some compost for your garden, feel free to let us know.......and bring a bag! 😁

Hi everyone. Having managed to keep our prices unchanged since taking over the cattery two years ago, we will reluctantly have to increase our prices slightly for the forthcoming financial year due to increasing costs. We have kept the increase minimal at 50p per day for single cats and £1 per day for multiple cats. The new prices will apply to bookings from 1st April 2025 and will be £12.50 for single cats, £19 for 2 cats sharing, £24 for 3 cats sharing, and £28 for 4 cats sharing. All prices are per day and will continue to include insurance, cold weather heating, litter, beds and bedding and regular foods, such as Whiskas, Sheba, Felix and Go-Cat. We will continue to administer medication, including for diabetic cats, at no extra charge. We will also continue to offer a pick-up or drop-off service at the same price of £10 per trip within 10 miles of the cattery, or £20 within 10-20 miles.

Happy new year to all of our lovely cats and their owners! We've had quite a bit of snow overnight but the cats are snug and warm in their pens. Most are inside in the heated area and many are in the heated bed, like the lovely Coco and Truffles (who like to share their bed!). We have a few hardy cats who have been outside looking at the snow, like Muffin, who found the highest vantage point that she could! ❤️

Due to the difficult travel conditions, we have contacted all owners due to pick up their cats today to let them know that there is no hurry and not to travel unless it is safe to do so. 👍

If you were planning on visiting the cattery today, please only do so if it is safe for you to travel.
