SHOW MANAGER’S REPORT


THANK YOU …. To the weather gods who were extremely kind after what was a changeable picture of what to expect. It turned our warm and sunny! Perfect!

THANK YOU …. To Team Chesvale, who once again turned out in force on Saturday and Sunday to ensure that our show was immaculately presented. It was great to know how much the judges appreciated our er****on team transporting tents, putting them up and them clearing them away. It’s one of the least favourite jobs for judges at the end of a busy days judging.

THANK YOU …. To all our judges, stewards and score boarders who gave their time to support Chesvale’s show. Also thank you to those that volunteered for 2027!

THANK YOU …. To Clare Williams for all the work she does, not only as show secretary, but throughout the year and all day at the show. Couldn’t manage without you!

THANK YOU …. To Laura Wiley, aided by Sheila Rodger, on working tirelessly all day in the training ring. Wonderful comments about the help handlers received and also the fact that it is set out as if it was a working ring at the show. Her efforts raised an amazing £147.00

THANK YOU …. To everyone who donated prizes for the tombola, manned by Maggie Petit, and we made £156.00. Together with £36.00 on the picnic hamper raffle and a £9.00 donation. This means with the training ring we will be donating £350.00 to Labrador Rescue South East and Central.

THANK YOU …. To Team Chesvale’s catering department! Gail, Pauline, Lynne, Julia and Julie yet again produced the most wonderful lunch for our judges and helpers. Then followed on with a fantastic afternoon tea and cakes organised by Jo, Sharon and Judith.

FINAL THANK YOU …. To all the competitors who came to the show. Without you supporting the one day shows I feel they would not be able to continue. Thank you for the lovely comments, a little praise goes a long way when you are relying on volunteers to work so hard. We hope to see you at our small show on Sunday 30th August (pre-beg, beg and novice) and then at our May show on Sunday 2nd May 2027.

Today’s fun dog show to raise funds for Appledown dog rescue and rehoming, hosted by The Crown in Ley Hill. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did to run it. Special Thankyou to our hosts at the Crown, as well as our very own judge Carol Spencer and her steward Clare Williams. Chesvale team you were all fab in your various roles, we couldn’t have don’t it without you. Well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Tonight we held another of our Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizens awards. Congratulations to the 9 who passed. Well done to everyone who had a go. You all did fab. 👏🏻👏🏻 Thankyou to Carol for judging and Gail and Pauline for helping out in the kitchen.

Tougher legislation around Dogs and Livestock comes into effect on Wednesday 18th March 2026. The main changes are:-
- It increases the maximum penalty to an unlimited fine
- Gives the Police additional powers, including to detain a dog
- It clarifies that the offence can be committed by attacking or worrying livestock
- It extends the operation of the law to now include incidents on roads and paths
- It adds in llamas and alpacas into the definition of livestock
