This week’s SATURDAY SPECIAL comes with some fun and cheap ways to treat your pets. πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ°πŸΆπŸ¦œ

The weather (do I dare say it) is starting to change and we will be spending more time indoors with our fur babies. Making toys, playing games, spending time with our pets helps build the bond with new pets, helps anxious or destructive pets to relax and stimulate their brains.

Did you know that looking into the eyes of a bonded dog releases serotonin hormones in you and your dog! These hormones can improve your mood as well as your dog! πŸ’œπŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’š

This week’s SATURDAY SPECIAL aims to share information and support.

The majority of RSPCA Centres and Branches are full up at the moment and being a charity with limited funds the RSPCA can’t always take in strays or pets that can’t be cared for by their owners.

This means priority needs to be given for those animals who are victims of neglect, cruelty and abuse.

If owners do find themselves in a position where they feel they need to give up a pet then we want to remind people there is a lot of advice on the RSPCA website, Medway West has a diverse food bank including veterinary specialist food and can offer financial support with contributing towards vet bills and neutering. All you need to do is talk to us. β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’œ

Can we also remind you that RSPCA Medway West is not a Rehoming Branch at the moment, so we cannot take in animals and we don’t have animals for adoption.

πŸ’™πŸ’œWill you help us by donating to keep loved pets safely at home? Food donations very welcome especially if you have a fussy pet who doesn’t eat certain flavours! β€οΈπŸ’š

Takes such a long time to get laws in place, but without them the RSPCA can not always take action β€οΈπŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

Right now, an estimated 5,000 primates such as monkeys and lemurs are kept as pets in domestic settings in the UK.

These wild animals are not suited to such environments. We're counting down to April 2026, when keepers in England will be legally required to keep them to zoo-level standards, effectively banning them as pets πŸ’ We hope Wales will follow suit so primates as pets are consigned to the history books.

Private keepers should use International Primate Day as a reminder to make appropriate arrangements for any primates in their care, such as finding suitable new keepers for them, in advance of the new law coming into force.

Thank you to our local inspectors, working hard for the unfortunate animals, as usual πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’šβ€οΈ

The RSPCA is appealing for information after two guinea pigs, one extremely underweight with a facial mass, were dumped at a nature reserve.

Doesn’t this make a rainy Monday just amazing πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’œβ€οΈ
