It's that time of the year again. 🎆 Some tips to help keep those who get scared calmer:-
Stay calm: Remain calm yourself so your dog doesn't sense your stress.
Provide a safe space: Create a quiet, secure place for your dog to retreat to, like a room without windows with a bed and blankets.
Distract your dog: Play music, turn on the TV or fan, or use a white noise machine to drown out the sound of fireworks. Classical music can help soothe your dog.
Comfort your dog: If your dog is worried, you can talk to them in a soft voice and cuddle them.
Keep your dog inside: If you plan to go to a fireworks celebration, leave your dog at home. If fireworks are likely to be set off near your home, keep your dog inside.
Make sure your home is escape-proof: Check that your doors, windows, and fences are secure.
Give your dog medication: If your dog has a prescription medication for fireworks, give it to them before they start.
Walk your dog during the day: Avoid walking your dog when fireworks are likely to be set off.
Black out your safe space: Cover your dog's crate and close the curtains to make the bright lights and sounds less threatening.
Make sure your dog has an ID tag: Ensure your dog has a proper ID tag.
