I'm traveling to Greece this April with a volunteer group to help the Happy Tails shelter in Nafpaktos. This shelter relies on volunteers to care for over 100 rescued dogs, many of them large breeds. We'll be working to rebuild kennels, reinforce fencing, and improve overall shelter conditions. We're aiming to raise £10,000 to make this happen, and we need your support! We've had some new faces join us the last few months. Hattie and Ed on walks, Stan and Cliff on boarding and daycare and Charlie and little Edna on regular daycare.

They're all settling in lovely and I look forward to watching them all grow and flourish.

It's that time of the year again. 🎆 Some tips to help keep those who get scared calmer:-
Stay calm: Remain calm yourself so your dog doesn't sense your stress.

Provide a safe space: Create a quiet, secure place for your dog to retreat to, like a room without windows with a bed and blankets.

Distract your dog: Play music, turn on the TV or fan, or use a white noise machine to drown out the sound of fireworks. Classical music can help soothe your dog.

Comfort your dog: If your dog is worried, you can talk to them in a soft voice and cuddle them.

Keep your dog inside: If you plan to go to a fireworks celebration, leave your dog at home. If fireworks are likely to be set off near your home, keep your dog inside.

Make sure your home is escape-proof: Check that your doors, windows, and fences are secure.

Give your dog medication: If your dog has a prescription medication for fireworks, give it to them before they start.

Walk your dog during the day: Avoid walking your dog when fireworks are likely to be set off.

Black out your safe space: Cover your dog's crate and close the curtains to make the bright lights and sounds less threatening.

Make sure your dog has an ID tag: Ensure your dog has a proper ID tag.
