Prevention is key, keep their home clean, check them daily and use a preventative treatment. Contact your vet straight away if you notice maggots on your rabbit, or suspect they have flystrike.

Meet Tuna, looking remarkably unimpressed by her dental day 🐈‍⬛🦷

During a routine vaccination check-up, we spotted subtle dental changes that didn’t look particularly dramatic on examination.

But dental x-rays told a very different story, revealing chronic inflammation, alveolar bone expansion around her maxillary canines and tooth resorption hidden below the gumline: a focal FORL Type 1, Stage 1 lesion causing that small bleeding dot we can see on the enamel.
Other teeth had further lesions, some much more advanced, like this Type 2, Stage 4 resorption with extensive destruction and replacement of the roots by bone.

Tuna’s treatment will be completed in two shorter stages to avoid one excessively long procedure and keep things as safe as possible.

A little reminder: regular check-ups and dental X-rays can uncover a lot more than meets the eye!

Meet Nemo 🐱💙

At 15 years old, Nemo came in today to have two nodules removed, one from his face and another from his shoulder. He was an absolute superstar throughout his procedure and recovery.

Age alone shouldn't automatically prevent pets from having surgery. With a thorough pre-anaesthetic assessment, careful planning, close monitoring during the anaesthetic, and appropriate pain relief, many senior pets can safely undergo procedures that improve their comfort and quality of life.

The best part? After surgery, Nemo tucked into two bowls of food like nothing had happened! 🍽️💕

A special shout-out to Nemo's mum, who even DIYed a bespoke soft recovery collar just for him to keep him comfortable after surgery. How stunning is it? We absolutely loved seeing the care and thought that went into making it just for Nemo. ❤️

We're so proud of this handsome gentleman and wish him a smooth and speedy recovery. Well done, Nemo! 🐾
