HEATWAVE🔥☀️

At Waggy’s, we do our best to keep your dogs as cool as possible. We do regular 20 minute checks on all of the dogs inside the cool kennels to ensure they’re cool enough with plenty of water 💦

With the weather heating up, dehydration is possible for dogs. Here’s a few things we look out for and that you can lookout for at home as well!

•Reduced appetite – Dehydrated dogs may show less interest in food.

•Dry or sticky gums – Healthy gums should be moist and slippery. Dry, tacky gums can indicate dehydration.

•Thick saliva – Drool may become sticky or ropey rather than watery.

Make sure your pups are keeping cool over the next few days especially. At Waggy’s we do our best to ensure your dogs are cool enough, this may mean reduced social time this week but thank you all for trusting us💜

💜 Happy Father’s Day! 💜

Today, we celebrate all the incredible dads out there. Here at Waggys, we’d like to take a moment to honour a very special father — Tessa and Greg’s dad, Mike.

Waggy’s simply would not be what it is today without Mike. From the very beginning, he gave so much more than financial support. He gave us his unwavering belief, trust, passion, and dedication. Long before anyone else could see the vision, Mike believed in Waggys and in all of us. He spent countless unpaid hours helping on reception, offering encouragement, reassurance, and always supporting us through every challenge and success.

Mike wasn’t just instrumental in helping us buy and build the business — he helped shape the heart and soul of Waggys. His hard work, generosity, and faith in what we were creating played a huge part in making Waggys the incredible place it is today.

We remember Mike as an outstanding businessman, a devoted family man, and a true legend. His impact continues to be felt every day, and we will always be grateful for everything he did for us, our team, and our Waggys family❤️

Amber has officially been with us now for two years! 🎉

From her beginnings as a kennel assistant, she has flourished here at Waggy’s, taking on the role of supervisor and social media manager in just two years!

One thing that hasn’t changed is the energy, laughter and endearingly ‘blonde’ moments that she brings every day.

Her love for every dog (though most notably Batman!) clearly shows in the care and compassion she provides each day. 🐾

We’re so grateful to have you on the team Amber, we can’t wait to see what the next year holds! 💜

At Waggy’s, we have the privilege of spending every day with your dogs. Over time, they become so much more than just dogs that attend daycare—they become part of our family🐾

We learn their personalities, celebrate their quirks, share in their excitement, and build bonds that mean the world to us.
For us, Waggy’s has never been just a job. It’s a place where dogs can be happy, feel safe, receive the love and attention they deserve, and truly enjoy their days. Seeing them run through our doors each morning, tails wagging and full of excitement, is one of the greatest joys of what we do🐾

But with the privilege of loving so many wonderful dogs comes one of the hardest parts of all—having to say goodbye.
Over the last three years, we have sadly lost some truly incredible members of the Waggy’s family. Dogs who brought smiles to our faces every day and whose presence is deeply missed. Losing a pet is one of the most painful forms of grief, and while no loss compares to that felt by their owners, we grieve them too🪽
We are forever grateful to have been part of their lives and honoured that their families trusted us with their care. The memories they gave us, the happiness they brought, and the love they shared will never be forgotten.
This post is dedicated to some of the beautiful dogs over the rainbow bridge. Though they may no longer walk through our doors, they will always remain a part of the Waggy’s family💜

How We Keep Dogs Cool at Waggy’s 🍦☀️

During the warmer months, your dogs’ comfort and safety are our top priority. Here’s how we help keep everyone cool, happy, and safe throughout the day:

🐾 Paddling Pools
One of the best ways for dogs to cool down is with a splash in the pool! We have multiple paddling pools in every designated area, all refreshed daily with clean water. Whether your pup enjoys apple-bobbing for tennis balls or simply relaxing with a full-body soak, the pools are always a summer favourite at Waggy’s 🫧
💦 Sprinklers
Every area is fitted with sprinklers to help dogs stay cool while they play. Not only do they provide a refreshing way to cool off, but they also keep the ground damp and comfortable for sensitive paws. They’re especially beneficial for smaller dogs too, helping to cool their stomach area — one of the most effective ways to regulate body temperature.
🚿 Fresh Water & Cooling Measures
Fresh drinking water is available in shaded areas at all times and is continuously monitored and topped up throughout the day. We also regularly hose down concrete surfaces and resting areas to ensure the ground remains cool and comfortable for your dogs’ paw pads.
🏡 Shaded Shelters & Fans
Each play area includes a sheltered rest space, offering shade from the sun as well as protection from the rain. Our sofas are lightly hosed to help keep them cool, and ceiling fans are installed throughout the shelters to maintain airflow and create a calm, comfortable environment for dogs to relax and recharge.
At Waggy’s, we carefully monitor every dog during hot weather, particularly breeds that are more sensitive to heat. While this may occasionally mean reduced socialisation or playtime, our priority will always be keeping your dogs safe, healthy, and comfortable during the warmer days ☀️
