Grass Seed Season is Here 🌾

Did you know that grass seeds can pose a serious risk to dogs during the warmer months?

Their small, sharp shape allows them to burrow into paws, ears, eyes, noses, and even under the skin, causing pain, infection, and sometimes requiring veterinary treatment.

Check your dog carefully after walks, especially if they've been in long grass. Early detection can help prevent more serious complications.

Volunteers' Week may be over, but it's never too late to make a difference! 💙

A huge congratulations to Charlotte, one of our fantastic volunteers at our NAWT Cornwall centre, who has recently received her induction training certificate. 🎉

Despite working full-time, Charlotte spends her weekends volunteering with us and says it's her favourite part of the week! Her dedication helps us provide the very best care for the animals at our centre, and we're incredibly grateful to have her as part of the team.

The perks of volunteering? Puppy cuddles, of course! 🐾

As we celebrate Volunteers' Week, we're shining a spotlight on two of our amazing volunteers, Yvonne and Claire, who volunteer at our NAWT Cornwall centre and recently got to enjoy some very special puppy cuddles. 💙

But it's not just the puppies that make volunteering so rewarding...

Claire says:
"I retired as a Headteacher at the end of the summer term and have always loved animals, so with lots of free time I decided to volunteer at NAWT. I have absolutely loved every moment of my volunteering role and find it hugely rewarding. It feels great to be part of a fantastic team who are all committed to providing the best care for the dogs and cats. I couldn't imagine not volunteering at NAWT. It has also had a huge positive impact on my wellbeing. If you love animals, then volunteering at NAWT is a must!"

Yvonne says:
"I have been volunteering at NAWT for just over 3 years. I love interacting with the dogs and taking them on walks. NAWT is such a worthwhile charity and I would recommend anyone to become a volunteer."

I enjoy a good shred session, zooming around the paddock, and generally having a great time being a happy dog. I’m a strong boy and I can get a bit excited sometimes, so I’ll need someone patient who can continue helping me with my lead training and teach me how to be the very best version of myself. What I really need is someone who won’t give up on me. Someone who sees the good boy I already am, and the even better boy I’m trying so hard to become. I’ve already been saved once. Meet Stuart, our Vinyl Specialist at NAWT Hayle 🎵🐾

This Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who use their specialist knowledge to help raise vital funds for pets in need.

Stuart volunteers as a Vinyl Specialist in our Hayle charity shop, helping to research and price donated records so that we can maximise the income generated from every donation.

"Hi, I'm Stuart. I love volunteering at the Hayle shop because for me it's the perfect blend of supporting a meaningful cause whilst enjoying the thrill of researching and pricing vinyl records. We've had some real rarities donated and it's rewarding to know that other people's generosity results in funding for a wonderful animal rescue charity."

We're looking for more Product Champions to help identify, research and price donated treasures, ensuring we raise as much money as possible for the animals in our care.

Its not known what I am like with dogs or children but with slow, calm and gentle introductions, they could be a possibility.
