Arthur is available for adoption! ๐Ÿก

โœจ Name: Arthur
๐Ÿถ Breed: Whippet Cross
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 2 years
๐Ÿ’– Personality: Arthur is a sweet boy and can be loving and affectionate with his cuddles. Arthur currently can be a bit nervous, and is hopeful to find a person whoโ€™s going to show him life neednโ€™t be all that scary!
๐Ÿ‘ซ Perfect match: Arthur is looking for an adult only home with no other pets.
๐Ÿ“ Currently at: Clacton-On-Sea

๐Ÿ’ฌ Arthur says:
"Hi everyone! My name is Arthur and Iโ€™m on the lookout for my very special forever person. Iโ€™m a Whippet cross...so size wise Iโ€™m bigger than a Whippet but not as big as a Lurcher! Life may not have always been easy for me and I am finding life a bit stressful right now...so Iโ€™d really love to claim the heart of someone very kind and patient who can help me on my journey. I am a very sweet boy and can be loving and affectionate with my cuddles, so I just know Iโ€™ll be even more of a love bug once Iโ€™ve got that strong bond with my person and found that cosy spot on the sofa at home."

Doris is available for adoption! ๐Ÿก

โœจ Name: Doris
๐Ÿฑ Breed: Domestic Shorthair
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 2 years
๐Ÿ’– Personality: Doris adores being around people, and will happily spend hours by your side offering gentle affection and the occasional nose boop. Doris is all about connection, comfort, and calm.
๐Ÿ‘ซ Perfect match: Doris is one of a large family of 21 cats. Because these cats come from such a big family, weโ€™re more than happy to help match you with a pair or group if more than one cat has caught your eye. Just reach out and let us know.
๐Ÿ“ Currently at: Berkshire

๐Ÿ’ฌ Doris says:
"Hi! I'm Doris. I have spent my early days lovingly raising my little ones. Now that my babies are all grown up, I'm ready for my own peaceful chapter, a quiet, cosy home where I can soak up cuddles and love every single day. I came from a family of 21 other cats, who you may have seen on the website, so if you see another cat you feel could come and live with us then please let the team at NAWT know. I am ready to be someoneโ€™s devoted best friend. If you have a quiet space and a warm heart, I promise I will fill your days with comfort, companionship, and a few boops along the way."

๐ŸŒŸ November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! ๐ŸŒŸ

This month, weโ€™re shining a light on our golden oldies, the older pets who often get overlooked, but have just as much love to give. ๐Ÿ’™

Take Molly and Dave, for example, a mother and son pair who came to our centre when their owner sadly became too unwell to care for them. They were adopted in 2022 at the incredible ages of 20 and 17, and would you believe itโ€ฆ three years later, theyโ€™re both still doing wonderfully! ๐Ÿพ

Their adopter told us that while Dave is now on palliative care, both cats have been โ€œthe cutest companions I could have asked for.โ€ Molly is still thriving and loves nothing more than pottering about in the garden to soak up the sun. โ˜€๏ธ

When Jamie first applied to adopt, he mentioned losing his two previous cats. When he saw Molly and Dave waiting on our website, he thought it would be lovely to give two older cats the love and comfort they deserved in their twilight years and itโ€™s been a perfect match ever since. ๐Ÿ’•

Senior pets may have a few more grey hairs, but they bring endless warmth, gratitude, and calm companionship. If youโ€™re thinking about adopting, consider opening your heart to one of our older residents they still have so much love to share.

Archie is available for adoption! ๐Ÿก

โœจ Name: Archie
๐Ÿถ Breed: Chihuahua Cross
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 7 years
๐Ÿ’– Personality: Archie is small in size, with a big personality. He is a worried little boy, so needs lots of reassurance without the fuss and pets.
๐Ÿ‘ซ Perfect match: Archie is after a quiet home with an owner willing to give him lots of time and patience. He needs a home where he can have a quiet space that he can take himself off to. Archie would need an adult-only home with no other dogs or cats.
๐Ÿ“ Currently at: Cornwall

๐Ÿ’ฌ Archie says:
"Hi! I'm Archie. I am looking for someone to give me a chance at life. Once I know and trust you the real Archie comes out to play - I just love my special mini sized balls and tug toys, we could have so much fun! I am actually very clever and know lots of commands, love enrichment activities and am keen to learn new things. I am good on the lead and really enjoy sniffy walks as long as I'm away from busy roads. I am hopeful for an owner who would be willing to handle me carefully and build up my confidence I would love to meet you and show you the real Archie x"

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we pause to honour all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.

Our animals wear their poppies with pride as we remember them, past and present.

๐ŸŒบ Lest we forget.

08/11/2025

๐ŸŒŸ It was a very special day at the Cornwall Centre on Tuesday! ๐ŸŒŸ

Despite the wind and the rain, we had plenty to celebrate. Not only did our amazing volunteer husband and wife duo, Ian and Jayne, complete their induction training and receive their certificates from Hayley and Leah ๐ŸŽ‰, but they were also celebrating their 33rd Wedding Anniversary! ๐Ÿ’โค๏ธ

We feel so privileged that you chose to spend your special day with us and all the cats and dogs here at the Centre.

Thank you, Ian and Jayne - and congratulations! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿ’

Chucky is available for adoption! ๐Ÿก

โœจ Name: Chucky
๐Ÿฐ Breed: Lionhead Rabbit
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 1 year
๐Ÿ’– Personality: Chucky is a friendly boy, and full of energy, hence his nickname 'The Duracell Bunny'.
๐Ÿ‘ซ Perfect match: Chucky would be looking for a home with a female rabbit companion that he can bond with. He would be happy to live either indoors as a free roaming rabbit, or outside in a heated enclosure. It is important that he has at least 2m x 3m worth of space for his living environment as any less space would not be enough to meet his needs.
๐Ÿ“ Currently at: Watford

๐Ÿ’ฌ Chucky says:
"Hi! I'm Chucky. I haven't had much experience of home life so I'm still quite nervous about being picked up and handled, but I'm slowly getting a little braver every day. I love my food and veggies so I always hop over to greet people when they bring me my snacks, and I'm starting to get used to having a little stroke on the head while they give them to me. I can't wait to find my forever home, so if you're looking for a bundle of fluffy energy like me, apply today!"

๐ŸŽ‰ Exciting News! ๐ŸŽ‰

Weโ€™re absolutely delighted to share that planning permission has finally been approved for our long-awaited dream - a brand new rehoming centre in Watford! ๐Ÿพ

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our application. Your encouragement and kindness have meant the world to us. The new facilities will make a life-changing difference for our staff, volunteers, and most importantly, the animals we care for here at NAWT. ๐Ÿ’™

Weโ€™re now working closely with our contractors to finalise plans, and weโ€™ll be sharing more updates very soon so watch this space! ๐Ÿ‘€

โœจ Name: Nora
๐Ÿถ Breed: French Bulldog
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 2 years
๐Ÿ’– Personality: Nora loves attention, cuddles, and playing with tennis balls.
๐Ÿ‘ซ Perfect match: Nora would prefer to be the only pet in the home. She would suit a home with older, sensible children who are 12 years old and over.
๐Ÿ“ Currently at: Bedfordshire

๐Ÿ’ฌ Nora says:
"Hi! I'm Nora. I am a charming little French Bulldog with a big personality and an even bigger heart! I am looking for a forever home where I can be the star of the show. I love attention, cuddles and playing with tennis balls - I am also a real foodie as well and enjoy lots of treats! I can be left alone for a short amount of time, however, I would like someone who is around most of the time to give me the affection I want. Our Story

The National Animal Welfare Trust rescues and rehomes over 1,200 homeless pets in the UK every year. During an animalโ€™s time in rescue, we work hard to provide them with training, rehabilitative care and enrichment that will help them through a difficult period of their lives and prepare them for life in a new home. We operate a safe, non-judgemental environment and never stop caring.

Although we've been helping animals for 47 years, we are never complacent and constantly seek new, innovative ideas we can implement to improve our work and help more animals.

Open Paw was one such innovation; originally developed in the US, we're proud to be UK pioneers for the project and recently given a seal of approval from Open Paw Co-Founder Kelly Gorman-Dunbar as โ€˜a centre of excellence and ambassador for Open Paw in the UK'.

Open Paw works to improve the lives of animals during their time in rescue, train them and prepare them for life in a new home. http://www.nawt.org.uk/
