To compare: we also brought our own Philly for annual health check. She had SIX dental surgeries, and at some point we thought she had mouth cancer and we did the biopsy as nothing was helping her. Expensive drugs like Atopica (Lori was on it too). Nothing helped.

We removed ALL of her teeth 2 years ago. It helped. She’s like a different cat now, having previously been in permanent pain, peeing with blood and acting agressive.

Teeth or no teeth, it doesn’t really matter all that much to the cats. But obviously it’s better for them to actually have them.

This was before the new Bova drug was available.

Would you like to see the results of the treatment with the new drug?

EIDD-1931 (the active metabolite of the antiviral drug molnupiravir) is increasingly used in veterinary medicine to treat Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS).

We started treating our FIV+ and FCGS girl back in March. The photos are from last Tuesday.

Lori had cat flu immediately after we finished the treatment, but this could have been unrelated. Her immune system isn’t great.

Her mouth look great and we would DEFINITELY recommend trying the drug! She had two dental surgeries prior to this, but that was last autumn, when no one heard about this treatment.

Our vet at Fauna Vets has treated many of our cats with FCGS as it’s a very common disease in cats, but this is the first time we used the new drug.

Hopefully Lori’s mouth will remain healed! 🤞🏻She’s been in our care for 9 months now 🤯 and half of this time we had to force feed her with the syringe. She is still snotty and sneezy, but she’s a very different cat now! ♥️

How is our little FIV+ girl doing? She’s just finished her gingivitis treatment with this new drug, and… as soon as we stopped it, she started exhibiting cat flu symptoms. And at that time 5 other cats got cat flu. From where? They’re all vaccinated and indoor (with access to the garden), and all were sneedzing away.
Lori was on another course of antibiotics and we have a vet appointment on Tuesday. Her nose is bleeding and she’s sneezing with blood. This isn’t great for anyone, as she’s not separated, and we have to constantly watch her every move.

Apologies for radio silence, but she’s not the only cat with serious medical issues, and we are exhausted. It’s now coming up to 9 months of treatment for her, and 9 months of treatment for the incontinent cat too…

Carmen (F) and Faust (M), our 9 month old semi feral kittens. Overlooked, and extremely hard to find homes for, due to their temperament. Carmen sleeps on the bed with her fosterer, but it’s hard to touch them.

Trapped as 7-8 weeks old kittens, raised at home with friendly cats.

What is the future for them? They are happy and healthy, but being „stuck” with difficult cats means that we can’t bring the new ones in-something we get asked to to several times a day, every day. Meanwhile, we’ve had some news about their mother.

Travelling to Europe with your pet this year?

The rules are changing tomorrow, Wednesday 22 April.

From that date, EU pet passports will no longer be accepted for travel from Great Britain to the EU. This includes passports issued before 22 April, and those issued in Northern Ireland or any EU member state.

Instead, you'll need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC), issued by an Official Veterinarian.

If you're planning a trip abroad with your dog, cat or ferret, get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can help you get the right paperwork in place.

Massive thank you to Animal Support Angels for donating LOADS of cat food and cat litter to us! Some will go to our foster cats and some is for the Neasden colonies fed by Aneta Tomczyk-miklas, who’s a key trapper/rescuer for the area.

If you ever considered fostering and if you live between Watford and Hemel Hampstead area, please contact ASA. This is our absolutely the best and most efficient cat rescue for the area and Amanda is a genius in how she runs things. It’s kitten season now, and without foster spaces, mums and babies haven’t got anywhere safe to go. If you can offer a spare room or if you can do vet runs on week days at 8 am and 3-4 pm (neutering runs), please get in touch with Animal Support Angels. ♥️🐾🪽🐈‍⬛♥️
