PLEASE READ if you are planning on or paying for your dog to stay somewhere whilst you’re away.
That person/business NEEDS a licence from their local council to do so.
After 3 horror stories and phone calls this week I feel the need to try and get the message out a little more.
In the UK, anyone running a commercial dog day care, boarding kennel, or home dog-boarding business must obtain an Animal Activities Licence from their local council. This is regardless of where or how they advertise.
Platforms such as Rover do minimum checks. I have heard and read a few people quote that people who have been found on these sites don’t need a licence. This is completely untrue. ALL home boarders need a licence.
Any home boarder should easily be able to show you their licence. Infact the licence should be on display for you to see. If they cannot show it to you, check with the local council.
Please share as bad things are happening too often. 😢
