☀️⚠️HEATWAVE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND⚠️☀️

As you’re aware, we’re due to have a heatwave this weekend and bank holiday. Please take some time to read the following on how to keep your pets safe this weekend.

💦Hot tips for keeping cool

🧊 Make sure they have fresh water available at all times, you can add ice cubes to make it even cooler!
🦮 Walk your dogs as early as possible in the morning or as late as you can in the evening to avoid peak temperatures.
🌊 Some dogs like to jump/play/splash around in a paddling pool in the garden
⛱️ Provide lots of shade with an umbrella or sun tents
💨 Air circulation, create a cross-breeze by opening windows and use fans to move air around the room. Ensure fans are safely placed out of reach.

‼️AVOID‼️

Never leave your pet in a parked car under any circumstances - conservatories and caravans can also reach dangerous temperatures quickly on hot days

Walking your dog on hot pavements or hot sand as paw pads can burn

Exposing your pet to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time

🥵 Signs of heatstroke 🥵

• Temperature of 40°C plus
•Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Weakness
• Increased heart rate
• Seizures

Some breeds are more exposed to heatstroke such as;
- overweight dogs
- brachycephalic breeds/flat faced breeds (pugs, bulldogs, boxers)
- older dogs

☀️🕶️ Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!
