With the warmer weather and bank holiday BBQs starting up, this is your little reminder to keep an eye on what’s dropping on the floor šŸ‘€

A lot of emergency vet visits this time of year come from dogs grabbing food at garden parties, picnics and BBQs before anyone even notices.

Things like cooked bones, skewers, corn cobs and fatty leftovers can cause serious problems very quickly.

I know those hopeful BBQ eyes are hard to resist… but sometimes saying ā€œnoā€ is the kindest thing you can do šŸ’›

If you’re hosting this weekend, it’s always worth reminding guests not to feed the dogs too!

ā€œWhat happens if my dog is reactive or nervous?ā€

First of all, please don’t panic about telling me.
So many owners worry they’ll be judged or turned away for being honest about their dog’s behaviour, but I'd always rather know upfront so I can keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Nervous or reactive dogs often just need a calmer approach, a bit more space, and someone willing to go at their pace.
I don’t expect dogs to be perfect. I just want to understand them properly.

Take this gorgeous boy in the picture for example. He's a very, very nervous rescue, and our early meetings were just short sessions in a neutral field, with me giving him space and calmly walking near and feeding him his favourite treats. We did that consistently for a few weeks before progressing to the house, and now here he is... happily laying on my feet 😌

That’s why meet & greets and honest conversations are so important. The more I know about your dog, the better I can support them and you.

Drop me a message if you’d like to discuss your nervous dog, I’d be more than happy to help.

I’m so grateful for all the enquiries recently, the support means such a lot šŸ’›

The next few months are looking very full already, especially for overnights, weekends and holiday dates. So if you’ve messaged and I haven’t had space straight away, please don’t think I don’t appreciate you thinking of me.

I’ve started keeping a waitlist so that if anything changes or extra availability opens up, those people get contacted first.

A lot of my bookings are repeat clients and advance bookings, so joining the waitlist is always worth doing if you’d like to work with me in future 🐾

And thank you again for keeping me so busy doing a job I genuinely love.

I know a lot of people naturally turn to friends or family when they need help with their pets, and sometimes that works really well.

But sometimes it can also add a bit of stress for everyone involved.
Not because people don’t care, but because pet care can be a bigger responsibility than people expect. Routines, walks, feeding, anxiety, medications, sleeping habits… there’s often a lot more to think about behind the scenes.

One thing I hear quite often from owners is that they worry about ā€œbeing a burdenā€ asking loved ones for help, especially for longer trips away.

Using a professional can sometimes just take that pressure away a little. Your family can enjoy being family, and you can relax knowing your pets are being cared for as part of someone’s actual job and routine.

There’s no right or wrong way to do it, every pet and family is different. But if you’ve ever felt guilty asking loved ones for help, you’re definitely not alone.

Before taking on new dogs, I always try to get a proper feel for them first.

Every dog is different, and it’s so important for me to understand their routine, how they are on the lead, how they behave around other dogs and anything else that keeps things safe and calm for them.

It also means I can give each dog the kind of care that is tailored to them, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

If you think your dog might be a bit quirky or are unsure if they will cope with a sitter/walker, don't be put off reaching out. I'm always happy to discuss any worries you might have 🐾

I’m always mindful that no one knows your dog better than you do.

But sometimes, when I’m out walking or sitting with them regularly, I might notice little changes that are easy to miss in the day-to-day routine.

It could be something small like energy levels, how they’re moving, or how they’re feeling around other dogs, or toileting habits.

I’ll always share anything I notice gently and privately, just so you’ve got that extra bit of awareness if you need it.

It’s never about knowing better, just about working together to make sure your dog is feeling their best šŸ’›

You might have noticed your dog being a little bit more "full-on" lately, and this might be the reason for it...

Spring means longer days, different smells, and a lot more people and dogs out and about, which can make walks feel a bit more intense than usual.

That extra pulling, excitement or ā€œselective hearingā€ isn’t just them being difficult. It’s usually a sign they need a bit more guidance and a calmer structure while everything is a bit busier.

This time of year is a good reminder that how we walk matters just as much as how far.
If you’re noticing a change, you're not alone. Always drop me a message if you need any extra support šŸ’›

If you’ve noticed I’ve been a little quieter on here lately… you would be correct šŸ™ˆ

Easter holidays have meant juggling work alongside childcare, and I know many of you will understand how quickly everything else drops down the priority list.
Social media has definitely taken a back seat… but behind the scenes, it’s been business as usual šŸ’Ŗ

Plenty of walks, visits, and lots of quality time with the dogs in my care. Often with my little helper Maisie by my side, who absolutely loves coming along and being part of it all šŸ’›

Thank you for sticking around while things have been a bit quieter on here. I’m still here, still working, and still caring for your pets as if they were my own.

If you need any help with walks, visits or sits, feel free to message me anytime!

Just sharing this for a little bit of awareness.

Not something we want to think about, but unfortunately, these things do happen so it's vital we try to minimise the risks as much as we can šŸ«¶šŸ»

Let's keep our dogs safe!
